Hypnobirthing Manchester - Teachers' Directory
I’m a qualified midwife practising in the NHS, mum to three young kids and one spaniel (who is the hardest work by far). I have a passion for the amazing process of creating and brining into the world a new life and am always in awe of women’s ability to do so. I want to help share the amazing benefits of KGHypnobirthing and show women what a wonderful experience birthing their baby can be.
I am a mum of two based on the outskirts of Manchester and Wigan. I run evening and weekend courses, plus home visits in the North West. For over 15 years I have worked in healthcare and education but most of all I enjoy working with mums-to-be and families.
I truly believe that the well-being of mums can’t be under-estimated and have experienced first-hand how wonderful KGHypnobirthing is in enabling a positive birth experience. I support mums-to-be to use this programme to help you achieve a positive birthing experience that is uniquely right for you and your baby. The comparison between birthing with and without KGHypnobirthing is profound and I believe that bringing a new baby confidently and gently into the world makes for a great start to motherhood.
It’s important to me that mums have a birth that they can be satisfied with and feel prepared and confident for the arrival of their new baby.
After 37 years as a practising midwife, I remain as passionate as ever about promoting birth as a natural and very special event. I have recently retired so have been able to channel my skills and experience in helping ‘soon to be mothers’ like you best prepare for birth. Experience has taught me a mother’s body is perfectly designed for birth, yet mothers have a tendency to work against it. I believe KG Hypnobirthing is the perfect way for me to empower you with knowledge and skills to help you achieve the best birth for you.
I am professional in my approach, trustworthy, warm and friendly (so I’m told!). I will support you from first contact on enquiry, throughout pregnancy and for the first month after birth. I will provide you with a chance for birth reflection within my support period, both as a positive means of birth recovery and as a celebration. We will also have fun along the way
I hold both a teaching and counselling qualification and have extensive experience in teaching Antenatal Education, Active Birth and Relaxation, along with providing De-brief, Birth Reflection and Breastfeeding Support.
Please don't hesitate to ring me should you have any questions at all, or wish to discuss a tailor made session.
I believe babies deserve to be born in the gentlest way possible and parents-to-be deserve to know what they can do to stack the odds in their favour to achieve a calm start to their baby's life.
Unfortunately, this information isn’t readily available in the mainstream. If it were, many more people would be experiencing fantastic, empowering births and not experiencing birth trauma at the level we currently are.
In 2014, I took part in the seminal BBC1 birth education documentary “Childbirth All or Nothing” produced by Landmark Films.
To this day, people contact me to say watching it changed or reinforced their ideas on childbirth and led them to have a much more positive experience than they would have otherwise which is amazing!
Since then, I have spoken at many birth conferences both nationally and internationally about how women can empower themselves towards better birth experiences. These have included the MAMA Conference, Scotland, the Women's Voices Conference, London, Doula UK Conference, London, Women's Right's in Childbirth, Oslo, Norway and the Manchester Homebirth Conference.
Giving birth is easier when both our environments and our bodies and kinds are calm and relaxed because the muscles you need to give birth need to be relaxed in order to work most effectively. This potentially makes your labour shorter and more comfortable.
Learning to put yourself into deep relaxation using self hypnosis is the fastest and easiest way to help you stay in control during your baby's birth.
If you invest in my course, we'll be practicing some deep relaxation so you'll be able to access your innate birthing wisdom.
There will be a healthy dose of evidence based information so you'll know how birth actually works and you can work with your body as opposed to against it.
On my course, you'll gain an understanding of our current maternity system and how to work with it in a way that's right for you.
I use my background in NHS Psychology to help convey the ideas in the course.
Arming yourself with the right knowledge along with practice of the techniques makes it more likely you'll be calm and confident in the birth process which is better for you and your baby.
Should you be interested in working with me, please do get in touch. In the first instance, we can chat to see if we are a good fit for working with each other and we can go from there.
