Hi my name is Suzanne and I'm a hypnobirthing mum too!  I discovered hypnobirthing as labour absolutely terrified me and I was adamant there must be something out there that could help me get through it and there was!  Hypnobirthing literally changed my pregnancies and made it such an amazing experience that I knew I had to pass this knowledge on to other mums-to-be so they can have the same positive experience as us.

My name is Claire and I am a mother of two. I am a registered midwife and Hypnobirthing teacher based in Glasgow. I first became interested in Hypnobirthing during my midwifery training when I saw the real difference that Hypnobirthing can make and was fortunate enough to witness some beautifully calm births. I am passionate about normality and holistic care in pregnancy and childbirth and I hope to encourage and empower women to achieve the positive birth experience that is right for them.

I created Mindful Bumps together with a colleague and friend who shares my values for women centred care. We can currently provide private one to one courses in and around the Glasgow area, with group sessions also soon to be available.

My own childhood experiences, becoming a parent myself and working with troubled and troubling people (in roles within social work, counseling, education and in the third sector) helped me recognize the importance of supporting parents and creating space to help each of us explore what parenting means and how to go about it.

KG Hypnobirthing provides a framework for couples to do exactly that: our classes share knowledge and skills that help parents skillfully navigate their way through the maternity system. Our classes remind us of the joys of childbirth and help us relax and explore our fears. Overall, hypnobirthing ensures that whatever circumstances arise, couples have the tools to remain calm, make the right decisions for them and have their best possible birth experience.

A positive birth experience creates a wonderful foundation for future family life.

I first became interested in hypnobirthing during my studies of hypnotherapy. I was amazed by the difference that hypnobirthing made and I am passionate about working with parents-to-be to encourage a positive birth experience. My background in paediatric nursing provided me with experience of working with families often in a supportive role. It was these experiences which encouraged me to pursue a Post-Graduate Certificate in Counselling Studies and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. Along with my nursing background, I have worked in a supportive role with Parentline, and also as a support worker for vulnerable adults.

My daughter was born in 2015 and my son arrived in November 2016. I realised after having my daughter how uninformed and underprepared I was regarding labour and I found it a frightening experience. I decided to train with KG Hypnobirthing as I have always promoted positive, mental and physical health for others, and also wanted to give myself the best opportunity for a positive birth experience with my second child.

I've had three hypnobirthing babies, and because of hypnobirthing, I never needed intervention or pain relief. It was wonderful to know that I, as a woman, was naturally made to birth babies. Everything I learned made so much sense to me, and I am so thrilled to share the same knowledge and preparedness with other parents-to-be.

I know the feeling of the empowerment a woman has when her body creates a fabulous miracle that is her baby. I am a hypnotherapist and am familiar with the incredible power the mind has over the body, and that it is so true that where the mind goes, the body follows. I am also a trained educator and teacher with a background in Family Science, and have been teaching in various settings for many years. I have a talent, love, and passion for children and babies, and am thrilled to share it with any and all mums and dads who want to hear.

I’m Catherine, the mother of two grown-up children. I’ve been a Reflexologist with a particular interest in Pregnancy for 9 years, and a Clinical Hypnotherapist for 6 years. Over the years, I’ve seen for myself how much benefit my clients, especially those who were pregnant, gained from deep relaxation and stress relieving therapies. Therefore, training to become a KG Hypnobirthing Teacher was a natural progression for me, as it places emphasis on a calm, confident birth experience.

For 5 years, I was the in-house Reflexologist at a local major insurance company, where I provided relaxation therapies for their employees, as part of a Stress Awareness Programme.

When I moved to Scotland and became pregnant with our first born I stumbled across hypnoses and relaxation as a type of pain relief during labour and birth. The folder I was reading was very detailed; however on this bit there was only one line of information. I decided to look into it and discovered something called ‘hypnobirthing’. It was like a whole new world that suddenly opened its doors for me. It was amazing! Suddenly women could give birth! I could give birth! I wasn’t just an illness that had to be subjected to protocols and checklists. No, I was a woman and this is what women do; give birth to our next generation. Pieces were falling together and I was starting to understand there is a different way to give birth. Having a degree in Earth Science and being specialised in human behaviour in extreme circumstances, I am fully aware of the cultural believes we all have and ‘suffer’ from. But, I wasn’t aware that I was part of such a big one myself: birth is painful and dangerous. The more I read, the more I understood. Yes, there are risk of being pregnant and giving birth, but being alive and doing things in the mean time always caries a risk, of course. However, that birth is meant to be painful wasn’t always one of them. I kept reading more and more reports of women that experienced an amazing, powerful, and in some of those cases pain free birth. I know, right?! I gave birth in May 2014 to a lovely little girl Hannah using the hypnobirthing techniques. It was a wonderful and powerful experience. It was so amazing I decided to become a teacher so I could share this knowledge with women around me who deserve, just like me, this option for her birth experience. I have been teaching in many fields over the past decade, therefore I can easily switch between different teaching methods to fit different needs. Being Dutch born I can also teach classes in Dutch if that is preferred. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am here to help. Susanne Grant BSc MA DipHB(KG)
