Hypnobirthing West Midlands - Teachers' Directory
I am a dedicated and passionate midwife who has been practising since 2008. I have worked in all areas of midwifery including community and in birth centres. My main goal when working as a midwife is to keep a woman’s birthing experience as ‘normal’ as possible, even when their experiences are ‘not going to plan’. This is through different methods such as encouraging upright positions, advising massage and a homely atmosphere. During the time that I have worked as a midwife, I have cared for many couples who have used hypnobirthing as a tool to give them the best labour and birth experience possible. I was very inspired by these experiences, as I frequently cared for women that seemed so calm, their labours often progressed quickly and the women often used less pain relief than those not hypnobirthing. Along with this, the birth partners also appeared well informed and very supportive. These experiences inspired me to becoming a KG Hypnobirthing Practitioner, as I also wanted to be able to share these amazing, powerful techniques. I work part time as midwife now and part time as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner to give couples the flexibility and best availability for their classes. During my spare time, I go hiking, practice yoga and I am involved in a local midwifery group who are campaigning for a much-needed free standing birth centre in South Yorkshire. I love to travel and I have been lucky enough to spend time in different countries such as Madagascar, where I have gained many different experiences and have had my practice influenced.
I am from the North East of England currently residing and working in the West Midlands. I have always had a strong interest in alternative therapies including mindfulness and hypnosis, both of which have been invaluable to me throughout my university and everyday life helping me cope with some very challenging times.
I commenced my Midwifery Degree in 2013 and spent 3 years learning all there is to know about pregnancy, birth and the period following birth! Following the completion of my training in September 2016 I completed the Katharine Graves HypnoBirthing Teacher Training course in order to become a fully trained HypnoBirthing tearcher. I have a strong interest in normality and helping facilitate womens choice, this is always at the forefront of care I provide.

Because I am so passionate, i feel totally committed and excited about sharing this course with women and empowering them to have the confidence and belief in themselves and their body and enabling them to have a positive life changing birth experience.

Hello, my name is Lorna and I’m a trained and experienced birth & postnatal doula living in Birmingham. I support mums and couples through pregnancy, prepare them for birth, accompany them through the labour and birth and support them during the first few weeks of parenting.
I’m a mother of 2 grown up children and I’ve had a long career (over 25 years) in supporting parents and their young children.
My work as a doula means I’m immersed in the world of birth and babies pretty much all of the time but when I do get time to myself I enjoy theatre, eating out, music and salsa.
Throughout my midwifery training, I was amazed and encouraged by the remarkable women I met and cared for, reinforcing my passion to improve birth experiences for all women. When I first cared for a woman who was utilising Hypnobirthing techniques, I was astounded by her confidence in her body, her baby and her birth and witnessed firsthand what a positive impact this had. I am a firm believer in KG Hypnobirthing, having seen it's huge success in a multitude of scenarios and my aim is to assist couples, making their pregnancy journey and experience as calm and positive as possible. I completed my dissertation on the use of hypnosis as a complementary therapy and I was amazed by the quantity of positive research. I was then fortunate enough to win the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust Student Award which funded my Hypnobirthing training. I teach Hypnobirthing alongside my career as a midwife which gives me a full insight into the advantages of Hypnobirthing throughout the birthing journey.
I have been a qualified nurse and midwife with the NHS for 30 years. I trained as a hypnobirthing teacher because, hypnobirthing allows a mother to have a calm and relaxed birthing experience that is her own. I am passionate about women being empowered to feel in control of their body and the birth of their baby. Hypnobirthing gives the confidence to birth without fear. I believe that fathers should feel completely involved in the process and be given the skills they need to support and encourage their partners through pregnancy and birth. I have four children. Each of my birth experiences was different but these experiences are the most powerful and joyful experiences I have known. I wish a calm, relaxed and joyful birthing experience for you too.
I have 0ver 30 years experience in the NHS and have been a Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner since 2000, specialising in Hypnobirthing for the last few years. Working with Coaching, Mentoring and Counselling skills enables me to provide a rounded approach for all I work with. I have a large family and we are all very close, meeting up on a regular basis. I have two beautiful children, Joe who is 26, an electrician and soon to be married and Jennie who is 24, a primary teacher who loves outdoor sports. My Mum is 85, very fit and healthy and spends everyday with us. Family and their wellbeing is very important to me.
