Hypnobirthing Yorkshire N - Teachers' Directory
I'm a mum of 1 (soon to be 2!) and midwife working in the NHS.
I initially trained as a nurse in Australia and arrived in the UK to travel for a few years. That was over 10 years ago! I am also a military wife, and have worked in various NHS hospitals and have had many different experiences of birth. I'm currently very privelaged to work with an amazing team of midwives caring for women choosing to birth at home. I feel inspired by my colleagues and the women I'm honoured to care for every day. Not only by their strength and determination, but by their spirit.
When I first came across Hypnobirthing in my practice as a midwife I was in awe of the experience. I found that women using hypnobirthing techniques appeared calm, in control, and were also knowledgable about the birth process while acting very instinctively in labour. Birth partners were also engaged and very in-tune with the needs and wishes of their partner, which I found really enhanced the experience for them both. Hypnobirthing women tended to request pain relief medication less often, and many times had labours that progressed quickly.
I wanted to enhance my midwifery practice by becoming a hypnobirthing teacher, and i'm particularly interested in how hypnobirthing can help women who have previously experienced birth trauma or women with anxiety around birth. I have conducted research around the topic of midwifery care for women with perinatal mental health problems for my MSc, and i feel strongly about the benefits of hypnobirthing in relation to improving expereinces and outcomes.
Having had a peaceful, calm and beautiful natural birth with my second child I fully believe in the benefits of doing a KG Hypnobirthing course. As I had taught English for many years I thought, why not teach KG Hypnobirthing? It is truly a fantastic, full antenatal course and I am very excited to be able to offer classes both in Yorkshire and Turkey. I am also a doula and photographer.
I teach yoga, pregnancy yoga and Hypnobirthing and I have been educating people to use their bodies in a natural and instinctive way for many years.
I am passionate about helping people understand how their minds and bodies work and what they can do to keep happy and healthy in a natural way.
I am particularly interested in helping mothers to understand their bodies in pregnancy and birth and how to achieve the pregnancy and birthing experience they want.
I have been featured on 2 series of One Born Every Minute and I'm currently studying for a master of science in clinical research methods. This knowledge allows me to impart sound evidence into my classes and help undergo understand the research that's out there. I also lead antenatal classes privately and teach Pilates classes too. In fact, the combination of hypnobirthing, Pilates and antenatal classes is far greater than the sum of their parts. I am a mother of 2 children, a girl and a boy and live in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate

I have always had a passionate interest in empowering women to have a natural birth.
Over the years I have seen many changes in midwifery and the midwifery service. I have always kept up to date with new developments and embrace the philosophy that learning and development is an ongoing process.
Hypnobirthing was something I learnt as a result of my daughter being afraid of labour. She did a hypnobirthing course and had her first hypnobirthing baby in 2005. I was so impressed with the tecniques she employed in labour and the calm relaxed way she gave birth that I went on to train as a hypnobirthing practitioner. All my grandchildren (4) are hypnobirthing babies.
I have been teaching Hypnobirthing for over ten years and have enjoyed meeting a diverse mix of couples, most of whom have embraced hypnobirthing with enthusiasm and have gone on to have the birth they were looking for.
I am an experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor and Clinical Hypnotherapist, an a few years agoI heard about Hypnobirth!! I immediately felt that Hypnobirth was definitely something I needed to know more about! I often had mums to be in the clinic asking for help with their fears of giving birth. The best decision I have ever made. I googled Hypnobirth and within two months I was attending a teacher training course. I have attended another another course this year, and love teaching this technique to my mums and their birthing partners, helping them to birth their baby calmly and in control, just as they planned!

I am warm, patient, empathic and non-judgmental. I have considerable experience of working with antenatal and postnatal parents and in depth knowledge of up to date and current guidelines and research. I take a particular interest in the research that explores what new parents say they would like to have known and been told antenatally. It is a huge privilege to be able to introduce women to skills and information that can give them back control over their birthing and feeding decisions.
