Why KG Hypnobirthing
Katharine has been teaching hypnobirthing for over 10 years and has taught over 2000 women to have a calm and gentle birth with KGHypnobirthing. She is probably the most experienced hypnobirthing teacher in the UK.
Teacher Training Course
Her KGHypnobirthing teacher training course is the original UK hypnobirthing course and over 400 teachers have been trained in the method. We have trained at least two professors of midwifery and several supervisors of midwives. This course is accredited by The Royal College of Midwives as confirmation that our team of specialist kghypnobirthing teachers, which also includes midwives and hypnotherapists, offers the highest quality training. This means that the KGHypnobirthing Teacher Training Course is accepted as CPD for midwives.
We have trained midwives in UCLH, St Mary’s Paddington, Kings College Hospital, The Royal London and other London hospitals, as well as at St Michael’s Bristol, Liverpool Women’s, St Mary’s Manchester, and Derriford Hospital in Plymouth among many others.
We aim to give mothers the most comfortable birth. And if birth is comfortable, gentle and drug-free for the mother, it is also comfortable, gentle and drug-free for the baby. If a baby enters the world in this way, and forms it first relationship naturally and lovingly, this will affect the whole of its life and all the people it meets. In the long term, the importance of this cannot be over-estimate.
The father is so often side-lined in pregnancy and birth, but this is absolutely wrong, as he has an invaluable contribution to make. Attending a KGHypnobirthing class and practicing together brings a couple closer together, and helps him form a close bond with his child as he knows he has been an important part in how that baby enters the world. As one father said, ‘The thing about KGHypnobirthing is that it works!’
When a midwife sees her first KGHypnobirthing birth, she is absolutely amazed at the difference between this and what has sadly become a ‘normal’ birth. The phrase, ‘It was just amazing. I couldn’t believe how calm she was,’ is what I often hear. Training in KG Hypnobirthing reminds a midwife of the vision that brought her into the profession in the first place and brings enormous job satisfaction by supporting a woman to have a positive and empowering experience of birth.
What does Hypnobirthing offer?
Hypnobirthing in Hospitals
The advantages of KGHypnobirthing to hospitals are considerable. Happy mothers mean happy midwives who love their job and want to continue doing it. Shorter more natural births mean cost savings to the hospital and offering hypnobirthing classes enhances their reputation in the area.
KGHypnobirthing is the largest and original UK hypnobirthing organisation. We have a support system that is second to none, for parents and for our teachers. We have a fully staffed office with people who are knowledgeable about hypnobirthing, and Katharine Graves herself is frequently available for advice and support.
The very top speakers in our field have presented at our study days:
