About Me
My name is May and I am a Registered Midwife (BA Hons) currently working within the hospital setting in Jersey, Channel Islands. I moved to Jersey in April 2015 having worked as a Midwife within the NHS in both York and Cambridge in both the hospital and community setting.
As a Midwife working full-time in the hospital setting, I appreciate that sometimes things do not go to plan. Birth can, at times, be unpredictable. It is therefore very important for women and their birth partners to have the knowledge and tools to get the best from the situation that they may find themselves in during labour and birth, and it is important for you to understand the implications of the choices you may be required to make.
You are likely to already have thought about your ideal birth and your preferences during birth. Hypnobirthing can help you remain calm, in control and relaxed during your birth experience, whatever the path that your labour may take.
Giving birth to your baby can be a positive, empowering and amazing experience - and that’s where Hypnobirthing comes in. I have achieved a Diploma in KGHypnobirthing, a widely respected body in the field of Hypnobirthing, and I am currently the only qualified KGH teacher in Jersey. I really look forward to sharing this amazing technique with you!
Why KG Hypnobirthing?
Positive Birth Jersey was established with the aim of providing mothers, fathers and birth partners with knowledge, tools and techniques to build positivity, strength and confidence in pregnancy and birth. Traditionally, Hypnobirthing has focussed on the achievement of a ‘natural’ birth. However, there is also a very important place for Hypnobirthing in the presence of caesarean sections (planned or unplanned), births where things don’t quite go to plan and for women who may have anxieties or fears surrounding childbirth.
Positive Birth Jersey delivers both group sessions and private, one-to-one Hynobirthing classes in the comfort of your own home. As one of the most widely recognised Hypnobirthing bodies in the U.K., I chose to teach the KGHypnobirthing method due to the wonderful benefits listed below:
