Hi, my name is Jo. I’m a hypnobirthing teacher and physiotherapist, alongside a mum to a gorgeous hypno boy!

My hypnobirthing journey began when I was pregnant with my son in Australia and despite initial hesitancy towards hypnobirthing prior to starting any course, it turned out to be the most rewarding and beneficial thing I could have possibly done to help enable a beautiful, calm and joyful birth.  I have become an absolute convert and want to pass on the immense benefits that KGHypnobirthing can provide to help families on their birthing journeys, no matter what their past experiences or expectations are, or what birthing preference you have.

I teach in a calm, relaxed manner and I am easy going.  No questions are silly questions.  With my additonal knowledge on the body and the impact of stress and tension on pain levels and anxiety, I can provide a holistic approach to your learning.  Having used hypnobirthing for the birth of my child, I have lived the experiences that you may be going through now and understand the importance that knowledge is power.

You can read more about my birthing story and how I can assit you here: http://www.innercalmhypnobirthing.co.uk

“Jo showed me that giving birth can be a peaceful and beautiful experience, and I am so glad that she is able to show other women this also….I had a peaceful and beautiful birth”  Hannah

“As the husband (and birth partner!!) I felt in complete control of the room and discussed with the midwife our exact ideas for the day and how WE wanted it to progress. This allowed my wife to concentrate fully on the act of birthing our child, which as you would have expected went perfectly to plan, 2 hours from arrival at the birth centre.  Her calm personality ‘we are sure’ is a direct result of the techniques and guidance we received during our course.”   Mark

“As someone who was tied up by the sheer awfulness of her previous birth I can say that the course was revelatory.  I had no idea what it would do for me and I didn’t imagine that it would guarantee me a VBAC or intervention-free delivery, but I did feel strongly that it would help me towards a more positive mindset, and that can only be a good thing.  I left the course on the second day feeling very positive – I really did feel as if I could do it, that a vaginal delivery was not an impossible dream and that hypnobirthing had given me the tools to a) enjoy the rest of my pregnancy and not stress about the delivery, and b) have faith that I could take control of elements of my labour.  I ended up with another emergency caesarean delivery which of course makes it seem as if I ‘failed’ and hypnobirthing failed me.  In fact, I think my birth is probably the most positive testament to hypnobirthing that there can be and I view the delivery of my baby with nothing short of euphoria, which is such a contrast to my first birth.  I hope you’ll agree that the following shows how important hypnobirthing can be for every kind of labour and delivery and even a ‘failed’ VBAC can be the most positive hypnobirth of all.  How can I feel so happy and fulfilled by something that was essentially so terrible and terrifying?  How can I view my birth as a success when, in essence, my plans for a vaginal delivery failed?  Hypnobirthing gave me that.  It gave me freedom and control and emotional peace on a day that should have had none.  That is a great testament to its power.  The fact that I view that day as I do makes me feel as if my hpnobirthing story is a greater success story than the woman who births her baby silently and pain-free and euphoric in a pool.  ”  Mother
