I have been trained to be a hypnobirthing teacher by Katharine Graves. I have home educated my son and now he is off on his adventures, I thought it was time for me to have mine! I have been involved with AIMS (Assoc. for the Improvement in Maternity Services) for many years on the committee and as Publications Secretary. I have a good knowledge of the issues surrounding birth and decided to teach hypnobirthing to get closer to the mums. I am continually amazed at the power of hypnobirthing and love passing on the techniques and message to couples.
My hypnobirthing course is an antenatal class which informs you of what you need to know about birth, combining with the guided relaxation, breathing and massage techniques of hypnobirthing. Although the course is structured, I aim to work with you to meet your own requirements. It is a 12-hour course taught at weekends, daytime or evenings to suit you and your partner. You will learn to disperse any negative thoughts or fears you may have about your baby’s birth and focus instead on the simplicity and calm of your baby’s natural entry into the world.
I welcome your birthing partner to join you in the course so that your already strong bonds are deepened – your partner plays a very important and supportive role in your pregnancy and birth. However, I can focus my course on the mother only if that is preferable.
On booking the course, I will send you the Hypnobirthing Relaxation CD – Colour and Calmness which you may start using straightaway. During this course, you will be given a folder of handouts and The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves. After the course I am there for you to answer questions by phone or email. If I don’t know the answer, I know someone who will!
From the day we commenced our hypnobirthing course my attitude towards the birth of my child changed dramatically. An event I was secretly dreading turned into something that I was really looking forward to.
