My name is Charlotte and I am a KG Hypnobirthing Teacher and Doula based in West Berkshire. I am also Mum to 3 wonderful children, wife to 1 wonderful husband and a complete & utter birth nerd! When I had my first baby 13 years ago my passion for pregnancy and birth was born and I knew that somehow I had to do something to support & empower women to go on to have the positive births that they deserved.. just like I had. My second birth was equally as calm, relaxed and magical (she was born in her sac!) and I was even more determined to change the negative mindset that so many pregnant women find themselves in - that birth is a medical event & is going to hurt! I then trained to be a Doula in 2010 and was privileged to support many women through their pregnancies, births and early days of motherhood. Baby number 3 wasn't far behind and again my positive mindset, confidence, calm & relaxed attitude and understanding of the task ahead made for another quick, peaceful birth!! Being Mummy then took over my life and I had to put Doula duties on hold until my children became more independent... and then I discovered Hypnobirthing! I couldn't believe it, it was everything I had believed in and had practised with my own babies with scientific evidence to back it up and even better.. I could become a teacher! I didn't really have to consider it and soon trained to become a KG Hypnobirthing Teacher which is honestly the most wonderful "job" and I feel so lucky to be able to make a difference to pregnant women, their birth partners and their whole experience of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

I have had many roles within my adult life, including carer and bus driver! For the last 3 years I have been working within Information Governance and Data Protection within the NHS. After the birth of my son I completely and whole heartedly knew that I needed to train to be a KGHypnobirthing teacher.

The idea for bump & glide came about after the realisation that there is so much care and support out there for babies but nowhere near enough for mothers.

After having my two children, who are eighteen months apart, I realised that there's a whole group of people out there who just aren't getting the care and support they need at a time when they need it most: Mothers-to-be and Mothers.

Carrying and growing a baby, giving birth, then caring for that gorgeous but demanding little human 24/7, takes time, energy and resources from the mother. Time, energy and resources which need to be replenished, and yet society today wrongly portrays that the most important thing after having a baby is to 'shift that baby weight', 'get back into those skinny jeans' and to just well, 'get on with it'.

I became a mother for the first time just over 4 years ago now and practised KGhypnobirthing techniques during both my first and subsequent labour, but following the birth of my first child, I felt let down by the support I received. KGHypnobirthing allowed me, and my husband, to know what to expect in terms of our choices, our rights and various techniques to use during labour, and hand on heart, I can't imagine how it would have been without having had this knowledge. However, I had that feeling of 'I wish someone had told me...' and 'Why didn't anyone check this before..',in the weeks and months that followed.

I have been amazed, confused, upset and frustrated about the fact that women are being let down. My strongest emotion now though is passion. I am, and have always been, passionate about people, helping people and I'm now dedicated to hopefully making a difference to how women experience their entrance into motherhood, a story which should have a better first chapter for us all.

Let's continue to help each other and make a difference where we can.

Warmest wishes,

Serena x

In 2007, I gave birth to my daughter using Hypnobirthing following my own course with the inspirational Katharine Graves herself.  It was my own life-changing, positive birth experience then which led me to change career direction and bring the benenfits of Hypnobirthing to Bournemouth.

In 2010, as well as passing my hypnotherapy diploma with distinction, I qualified to teach Hypnobirthing.  I haven't looked back since then and love helping expectant parents on their journey to calm labour and birth for themselves and their babies.

I am hugely blessed to live in rural Wiltshire with my husband Owen, and our daughter Isabel. We have a dog, a pony, ducks and a front hall full of muddy wellies. My background is in the outdoors and therapy. Originally I trained as a horticultural therapist, before moving in to the field of equine assisted therapy.

Currently I am a full time Mum. I support my wonderful husband, enjoying raising our daughter, and try to keep the house tidyish and the garden weed free. This is a big surprise to me having previously been focused and career driven!

We had a lovely straight forward homebirth with Isabel. My full birth story is on my website in case it is of interest to you. Please be reassured KGHypnobirthing is relevant and useful in every birthing situation. We had a beautiful homebirth, if you are planning a beautiful C Section or a beautiful hospital birth KGHypnobirthing is still totally relevant to you.

My dream is to see women empowered to have the birth of their dreams. It can feel like an uphill struggle, I am here to support you.
