Serena Williams – bump & glide Ltd

Gardener's Cottage, Marchwood, Hampshire SO404DA, England

The birth of your baby is right up there with one of those life-changing events, multiplied by ten, and yet we don’t prepare for it with anywhere near as much time or effort. KGHypnobirthing is a complete antenatal training course which will provide you with a ‘toolbox’ for birth.

There is no right or wrong way to give birth. KGHypnobirthing doesn’t promise you’ll achieve your idea of ‘a perfect birth’, nobody can promise that. It will however provide you with the tools you need to feel relaxed and in control of the birth of your baby, releasing fear, trusting your body and building confidence.

When you hear the word ‘Hypnobirthing’ you may be thinking isn’t that just for people who want drug-free, water, home births? The answer is no, not at all!

The techniques acquired on a KGHypnobirthing course are for every birth, however it may be, from a vaginal birth to a c-section, in a hospital, a birth centre, or at home.

Below is a list of just some of the things my bump & glide KGHypnobirthing birth preparation course will give you:

  • Breathing exercises.
  • Deep relaxations.
  • Very effective work to release fear and build confidence.
  • How the father/birth partner can be an invaluable protector and support.
  • How your body is designed to give birth with efficiency.
  • Knowledge and information about the whole process of the different stages of labour and birth.
  • How ‘the system’ that you find yourself in works, and how to work with it to achieve the best result for you.
  • A simple practice regime to support you at home.
  • Understanding how the mind and body work together.
Location

The idea for bump & glide came about after the realisation that there is so much care and support out there for babies but nowhere near enough for mothers.

After having my two children, who are eighteen months apart, I realised that there’s a whole group of people out there who just aren’t getting the care and support they need at a time when they need it most: Mothers-to-be and Mothers.

Carrying and growing a baby, giving birth, then caring for that gorgeous but demanding little human 24/7, takes time, energy and resources from the mother. Time, energy and resources which need to be replenished, and yet society today wrongly portrays that the most important thing after having a baby is to ‘shift that baby weight‘, ‘get back into those skinny jeans‘ and to just well, ‘get on with it‘.

I became a mother for the first time over 7 years ago now and practised KG Hypnobirthing techniques during both my first and subsequent labours. However, following the birth of my first child, I felt let down by the support I received. KG Hypnobirthing allowed me, and my husband, to know what to expect in terms of our choices, our rights and various techniques to use during labour, and hand on my heart, we can’t imagine how it would have been without having had this knowledge. However, I had that feeling of ‘I wish someone had told me...’ and ‘Why didn’t anyone check this before..‘,in the weeks and months that followed.

I have been amazed, confused, upset and frustrated about the fact that women are being let down. My strongest emotion now though is passion. I am, and have always been, passionate about people, helping people and I’m now dedicated to making a positive and impactful difference to how women experience their entrance into motherhood, a story which should have a better first chapter for us all.

Let’s continue to help each other and make a difference where we can.

Warmest wishes,

Serena x

I highly recommend Serena, the whole course from start to finish was really well structured, clear and enjoyable. Above the course content, working with Serena was fantastic, we were able to talk about any concerns and questions throughout. We’ve learnt so much and are looking towards the birth in a positive way.

I couldn’t imagine going in to labour not knowing all of this information and being prepared through the course and the techniques we’ve learned and being guided by such a lovely person.

Serena is so personable, empathetic, knowledgeable and kind.

She goes the extra mile to help you feel supported and to explain things. After the course I feel empowered to ask questions and understand my options about Labour.

We now understand the labour journey and different paths. My husband and I feel like a team.

Thanks so much Serena.

I was a bit fearful about the birth of my second child after my daughter’s delivery didn’t quite go to ‘plan’, so I decided to give hypnobirthing a go. I initially tried to immerse myself in a book, but found I wasn’t gelling with the technique, so after much Google-searching I stumbled across Serena at bump and glide.

She came to our house for a condensed course over 2 weeks, and I can only sing her praises. Serena has a very calming presence and I found the information she gave my husband and I very factual and reassuring, especially when she drew on her own experiences. By the end of the course I felt incredibly empowered about my birth choices this time around and was ready to attempt another pain-relief free delivery.

Unfortunately, as is often the way, things veered off-course when I became ill at the end of my pregnancy and we also found out that the baby was footling breech. The breathing techniques were put to use during a failed ECV (to turn the baby). I then went in to labour naturally – my contractions were 2 minutes apart and lasted more than a minute, but I managed to hypnobirth through them all and refused the offered pain relief. Unfortunately my labour didn’t progress and I had to stay in hospital due to the risk to me and baby.

My pregnancy ended in a c-section at 37+3 weeks, not at all what I had hoped for, but again the techniques I learned from Serena helped me get through what I found to be quite a scary situation.

When our son was then admitted to hospital a couple of days later, my husband and I drew on the skills Serena taught us about asking questions of the medical staff and challenging decisions that were made.

I cannot recommend Serena highly enough. She is incredibly kind and caring and passionate about the work she does. She empowers couples to understand their options for the birth of their child, even when things aren’t necessarily straightforward. I am really glad we found her!

“Steve and I really enjoyed your session. Steve felt empowered at the thought of him having a role within the birth, which was really lovely to hear. I really like the thought of running through everything that could happen and knowing my options.”

You are the first person that has ever said ‘labour’ without the pained expression on your face!

For the first time, I didn’t dread giving birth.

We met Serena at a Mothercare event. I had never heard of Hypnobirthing before but her demonstration and words made complete sense and really spoke to my logical side.

I am so glad we went ahead with Serena and the KGH course. My husband and I felt prepared and ready for labour and can only describe our labour experience as relaxed thanks to what Serena taught us.

She is kind, caring, compassionate and I feel like I have known her forever. I would now consider Serena a friend. Her course was expertly taught in a personal way and I could not be more grateful for Serena and the Hypnobirthing course.

My only negative was when the course finished! I enjoyed our sessions so much and was not ready for them to end.

Thank you Serena for everything.

I highly recommend Serena! I found the sessions around hypnobirthing so interesting and informative and it put my mind at ease and made me feel confident about having a natural birth.

When I found out that I might have to have a C Section Serena was incredibly supportive and gave me lots of information and advice about how I could use hypnobirthing in that context and on the day of my section I felt calm and in control having listened to my hypnobirthing tapes both the night before and morning of (I even fell asleep whilst waiting for my slot that’s how relaxed I was!) Thank you Serena for everything you are incredible!

I would highly recommend hypnobirthing, but more importantly, Serena, to everyone. She is amazing! I started the course very anxious about childbirth. I felt like I didn’t trust my body and that everything was out of my control. Through the sessions and many discussions, she has helped myself and my husband feel at ease about the future. She’s even made us feel excited for our baby’s birth!

Serena was great at listening to us, putting a lighter spin on things if I was getting too bogged down with the technicals and she really cares. I felt like we could say and ask anything, knowing that nothing was being judged. She goes the extra mile to make you feel special and her personal touches are great.

Hypnobirthing has taught me to trust my instincts and to acknowledge how amazing our bodies are! I feel very empowered from the whole experience and would recommend Serena wholeheartedly. I know that our birth may not turn out perfect, but we feel more prepared and ready to deal with the situation.

I have found the whole course fascinating, especially knowing your rights as the patient. It has also brought my husband and I closer and I really feel as though we are a team ready for our chapter as parents. Thank you Serena!

We’re so pleased that we have met you and felt so relaxed during the sessions.

You have changed our whole way of thinking and we are using little tips from your course daily at the moment. I think it has also helped me more with my general anxiety. We cannot thank you enough.

With the hypnobirthing techniques, I am able to rationalise and calm myself quite quickly.

I dread to think what I would have been like without doing it!

I’d always heard negative things about birth and I thought it was going to be horrible. Early on in my pregnancy journey I began to hear about Hypnobirthing and relaxation and I thought why not learn more about it with a more positive approach. I met Serena at an expectant parent event who explained what happened during labour with a balloon and ping pong ball, which was great for a visual person like me.

After reviewing the different course options bump & glide’s course was the best for me as it is 1:1 and takes place over 4 sessions. This gave me the opportunity to talk freely about how I was feeling each week about the different topics, learning to understand them better, and deciding what I wanted for my birth experience enabling me to be more prepared for birth mentally.

After each session Serena emailed through what we discussed and provided further information as appropriate. After the course had finished I contacted Serena as I was worried I had forgotten all about breathing during labour and after a phone call she put my mind at rest. Serena also visited me post birth for a catch up and we discussed what to expect at the 6 week check.

My birth experience was calm and positive and very different to the negative stories I had heard. I felt prepared and had a relatively quick labour (less than 24 hours), which I think was due to learning a different approach to birth from bump & glide’s hypnobirthing course.

I would highly recommend this course! We did this course and NCT. We learnt more through Serena then we did through NCT. I felt fully prepared. I found it so good that she came to our house as it was so comfortable. Serena is such a lovely and caring woman!

We would go through different material and then be given a book alongside which I would then read. I also like being given a bit of homework for example, to do a relaxation. My husband wasn’t sure when I told him I had booked us on the course but once we did it, he thought it was fantastic.

Most sessions ended up with a relaxation which we both really enjoyed and got us ready for bed! My birth didn’t go to plan, and it ended up being an emergency c-section. I am quite an anxious person but my husband was able to keep calm using the techniques and what we learnt and I was able to stay in control!

I was also able to stay in contact with Serena through WhatsApp so when we finished the course, I could still ask her questions if anything came up.

I would thoroughly recommend doing this!!!!
