Hypnobirthing East - Teachers' Directory
I have always found women, pregnancy, birth and babies awe-inspiring and I believe bringing a brand new little person into the world is one of the most amazing things a woman can do. I believe in your innate capacity to birth and care for your baby; you are powerful! It is my absolute pleasure to care for mums and babies and my job is to encourage you to know your own strength and capability, that which is there in all of us. Every woman has the right to feel safe, relaxed and cared for and this enables the best possible birth experience and helps with the early attachment process. I also believe every woman has the right to choose how and where she births her baby whenever possible; I support your decision, be it a home birth, birth centre or hospital. So, a bit about me...I love my job! It is a real privilege to support families on such a precious journey. I love being outside in the sunshine, reading a great book with a ridiculously huge skinny caramel latte (and the odd cake here and there...). I enjoy my "me-time" and I also love to spend time with my wonderful friends going for dinner (Fondue night, dinner parties at mine, Mexican, Diner... I'm not a foodie, honestly) and also relaxing with my wonderful partner of eight years, Steve, at home, and spending time with my family. I may be getting old as I've really got into going for a slow walk everyday lately and looking at the trees (I never thought I'd see the day!) Oh, and I love a good box-set and my wild vice is...wait for it...aromatherapy candles. Whoooooo!
I am a Qualified State Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirthing Teacher registered with the NMC, RCN and Hypnobirthing Association. I have over 30 years’ experience working within the NHS and private sector and I am committed to teaching expectant parents the wonders of the KG Hypnobirthing technique. As a midwife I will be able to explain some of the obstetric terminology that can confuse parents; My hypnobirthing classes will prepare parents emotionally, psychologically and physically in the antenatal period for their new baby and will empower them to question routine treatments and methods used in current obstetric practices.I am also a mother of three and only wish I had had the knowledge, skills and confidence to have been a hypnobirthing mum so I could have enjoyed the natural process of childbirth. Please read my website for information on course dates or call me to discuss (as dates do change and I am very flexible and can offer weekend visits). I look forward to introducing you to the wonders of Hypnobirthing so you can achieve a more relaxed, gentle and comfortable birth.

My name is Michelle Pearson, I am based in Homerton in Hackney, East London and became a fully qualified Hypnobirthing Practitioner in 2006, training originally with the American Mongan Method and then updated my training with the more UK based KGHypnobirthing. I have helped hundreds of couples achieve a calm, comfortable and gentle birth for themselves and their babies, in Hackney, Walthamstow, Forest Gate, Stratford, Leyton, Stoke Newington, Islington and beyond!
I became interested in birth after having my own two children, Ella and George who are now officially grown-ups - time has flown! My first pregnancy was thrilling, I loved being pregnant and feeling all the amazing changes taking place in my body. Ella’s birth was at home, eight hours long and although a good experience, compared to many, it was intense from the start and I didn’t really have the understanding or the tools to support myself and so it took a long time to recover physically and emotionally. Leading up to my second birth I felt more fearful - would I be able to do it again? It was another home birth but this time much quicker and with my body’s previous birthing experience, I was able to let go and feel the power of my body. I felt exhilarated and so proud of myself after George’s birth.
At that time, I began to realize how fearful we as women can become as we get closer to giving birth. I wanted to find a way of helping more women feel empowered and confident in their body’s natural ability. I began to dream of working in the birthing world and to be able to help women, their partners and babies have a more positive experience at this life changing time. (my grandmother was a midwife in India - perhaps it's in my genes!)
One day, whilst working in my job as a Production Manager on a women’s magazine, a chance conversation with a colleague and friend, led me to find out about Hypnobirthing. It’s philosophy and common sense approach reflected my own instinctive feelings of how birth could be and soon after I found myself training to become a Hypnobirthing Practitioner. Since then I have helped hundreds of couples have calm, confident, positive birth experiences.
I am committed to continuously updating my skills by attending birth workshops, courses and lectures. I have also trained with Michel Odent known for his role in promoting natural birth and water birth. I completed my Doula training with 'Developing Doulas' in 2013 and became a recognised Birth Doula with Doula UK.
I hold a Practitioner Diploma in Integrative Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy and a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Hypnosis and NLP.
I decided to extend my knowledge as a yoga teacher specialised in pregnacy by becoming an KGHypnobirthing teacher. I offer the mum-to-be a peaceful time to reinforce the knowldege about her body, pregnancy and birth, achieving confidence, calm and serenity, creating a healthy pregnancy and subsequently a wondeful birth experience for her and her baby.
I'm origallly from Mexico and have been based in London for the last 16 years, where my yoga practice and personal development journey started.
I gained my Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher certification in Thailand with Lorraine Taylor, focusing on female bodies and energies. I hold a Yoga Alliance US accreditation (RYT200). I furthered my teacher training becoming a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Restorative Yoga Teacher with Judith Lasater, where my passion for creating nurturing spaces for mothers to be was awaken.
I'm the founder of the women's circle: "Journey Into Motherhood", an intimate gathering where mums to be are invited to share and express their emotional experiences through pregnancy, taking time to slow down, connect within and journal what pregnancy and their babies are unfolding for them.
I am a KGHypnobirthing teacher and yoga instructor specialising in pregnancy and postnatal care in addition to Restorative Yoga, which focuses on training the body to relax and find calm. I have worked with hundreds of mums during their pregnancy and beyond. I completed the KGH training because I felt it was a natural progression for my experience with pregnant women.
I offer small group and private course options, currently all online until lockdown eases further. One positive aspect of being in lockdown is that you don't need to travel further than your living room!

Isle of Dogs
I live in East London with my husband, Emerson, and our two children, Hudson and Harper. Both of my children were born here using Hypnobirthing, which gave me a lot of comfort and confidence throughout my pregnancies and births. In a time of uncertainty, I appreciated the boost KGHypnobirthing gave to me, not only in confidence, but in excitement. Instead of fearing birth, I began to look forward to it, and shouldn't we all? It is such a special time, after all. In addition to teaching Hypnobirthing, I've been teaching yoga since 2011 and have a degree in human biology. I'm lucky that my work consists of teaching things that I have felt the true benefits of, and my passion for what I teach drives me to keep learning and refining what I share with others.
I began my training as a doula with Nurturing Birth Doulas in June 2019 following the birth of my daughter in 2018. Her birth came after several years of infertility, IVF and pregnancy loss.
Once I was ready to believe that I finally was going to have a baby, I put everything into finding out all that I could about pregnancy and birth. I undertook Active Birth and Hypnobirthing courses and practiced the techniques. I was determined to not let the birth of my child be defined by the medical intervention that defined her conception. As IVF pregnancies are often categorised as ‘high risk’, this was not straightforward. However, I did end up having an extremely positive birth experience, one that I believe may not have been possible if I hadn’t prepared in the way that I did and hypnobirthing was a key aspect of this.
After the birth, I immediately knew that I was not ready to leave that world behind and wanted to support others going through pregnancy, birth and new parenthood. I decided to train as adoula and immediately knew that I wanted to be able to provide KGHypnobirthing to my clients, this having made such a significant impact on my own birth experience.
