I am a Doula & Hypnobirth Teacher and support women/people through their birth journey. I offer personalised one to one courses in the comfort of your own home around days and times that suit you. I work in areas surrounding Fernhurst on the border of the three counties, Surrey/West Sussex/Hampshire.
My name is Shirley and I live in Fernhurst in the border of the three counties West Sussex, Surrey & Hampshire. We have three daughters. Two of these were hypnobirths. My third birth was at home and the most amazing experience I have ever had. I realised the importance of understanding the birth process and how to work with your body will enable you to have a positive birth experience.
Birth and children are my world! I also run world music and movement classes for babies and toddlers called Yo Baby.
I run a local Positive Birth Movement Group, a local Home Birth Support group where we lend pools for a donation, I am a Reiki Master and currently training in Indian Head Massage and as a ABM Breastfeeing Counsellor.
I am so passionate about spreading the Hypnobirth word, giving birth is a life changing experience. By practicing Hypnobirthing you are also learning new skills for life that you continue to use after your baby is born.

Why KG Hypnobirthing?
Nobody would ever consider running a marathon without training and they say the training is half mental and half physical. After running a marathon myself and birthing three little girls I can say the preparation for both are very similar. Practicing hypnobirthing techniques always makes a difference.
Hypnobirthing helps you to release any worries you have with birthing your baby. By practicing relaxation, breathing and massage techniques that then become like second nature you feel so empowered, so in control, so calm and so excited about the journey you are about to take to meet your baby. When you are in labour you naturally and easily feel calm and relaxed and work with your body to help you birth your baby, no matter how you birth your baby it can be a positive and empowering experience.
After having a bad /experience with my first birth I was afraid of going through labour again.
I first came across hypnobirthing when a friend lent me a book. The idea that giving birth is completely natural and what a woman’s body is designed to do, not something which should cause anxiety or needs medical intervention, seemed so logical!
However, it was the face – to – face preparation work that Shirley did with us that really cemented the hypnobirthing ideas with us. Through talking with Shirley, I came to understand that I had control over my labour – whatever happened, it was down to me to make decisions with which I felt comfortable.I never felt any pressure from Shirley that the birth should go a particular way or meet certain expectations, she always made it clear that whatever happened was personal to me, the point was that I felt in control and happy with the decisions I made.
In addition, Mark was pleased to learn that the birth partner can take a very proactive role during a hypnobirth and found the guidelines with which Shirley provided him very useful.
I can honestly say that Joseph’s birth was the most miraculous and empowering experience of my life.

The course put me in a very positive frame of mind about the birth which I think is very important. I think my little girl is a calm baby because of her entrance into the world. So the course was really worth it.
Ps. Only Gas and Air - thank you for all your help!

Thank you so much Shirley for all your expert advice and kindness. We really enjoyed the course so much, it has put a completely new positive spin on birthing and I am now looking forward to it rather than dreading it.

I feel that doing the hypnobirthing course was very worthwhile. It made me understand more about birth and become more aware of what the body can do and how birth can be more manageable, all of which helped me have a successful and dare I say it, enjoyable birth!
I wanted to learn a few techniques to help manage the labour and birth. I felt I got much more than a few techniques to help my breathing. I practiced the breathing, relaxations and visualisations beforehand and really felt these helped managed my labour hugely. I also believe that having a much more positive attitude (by looking at positive birth stories and using the positive affirmations) generally helped.
I would also recommend Shirley thoroughly – she was really good at rapidly building a relationship which helped during the course, was always willing to explain things in more detail, never pushed any of her own views or opinions and also spent time post the course to support me and Matt in our discussion e.g. she provided extra information and research on delayed cord clamping and home births to help in our decisions.
