Kirsty is a fully qualified hypnobirthing practitioner based in SW London. She is a member of the Hypnobirthing Association and the National Childbirth Trust (NCT). She has a diploma in Antenatal Education and teaches antenatal classes for the NCT. Kirsty is committed to do what she can to help people have a better birth experience. She regularly attends meetings with midwives and obstetricians at the local hospitals in order to feedback issues and keep updated with local hospital policies. Kirsty also attends study days and keeps up-to-date with current research and practice.

Kirsty has three children and has experienced birthing with and without hypnobirthing techniques. After a bad first birth experience Kirsty was terrified of giving birth a second time so undertook hypnobirthing classes. The difference between the births was unbelievable. The birth of her daughter (at home) was an empowering and enjoyable experience. Picture a relaxed, glowing mother sitting on her own sofa, nursing her newborn baby and enjoying a very well deserved cup of tea and chocolate biscuit! Contrast this to her first birth experience where she looked grey, was completely exhausted and couldn't move from her hospital bed, she wasn't even allowed to sit-up for 2 hours after the birth. Kirsty was so amazed at the power of hypnobirthing she feels that all women should be given the opportunity to have a positive birth experience. Kirsty has just had her third baby and once again had a brilliant experience as a result of using hypnobirthing techniques.

I am a midwife with 13 years experience and a mum of two home hypno water babies. I'm madly passionate about empowering women to have a positive birth experience. Throughout my career I have witnessed the benefits of hypnobirthing time and time again. There was no doubt that when it came to having my own I was definitely going to be using it.

Having a baby is one of the defining moments of a couple's life and arguably THE defining moment of their parenthood, after all the birth of a new baby brings with it the birth of a new mother and father.

Throughout my degree and masters I have focused on supporting the natural physiology of pregnancy, birth and breastfeding not working against it. I view pregnancy and birth as a normal (if remarkable) event in a woman's life. There is a multitude of evidence to support that this approach not only results in better outcomes for mothers and babies, but also that mum's are more satisfied with their maternity experience. However, in the risk adverse, overly medicalised culture our maternity services operate under today this requires an active not a passive approach both on the part of the maternity staff and also the parents.

In my experience the (not so) secret formula for having a positive birth is confidence (self belief), taking ownership of your birth (knowledge to make informed decisions) and a strategy for keeping calm and comfortable (hypnobirthing). I teach all of this in my classes and also include essential information on early days with your new baby.

Hi, I’m Laura, The Holistic Doula

I am here to support you in your personal and unique journey to motherhood. I love working with both pregnant mothers as well as with mothers and babies once their baby/ies arrives.

My aim is to offer compassionate and heart centred continuity of care to you during your pregnancy, labour and during the early stages after your new babies arrival.

I believe that the happiness and health of mothers has a huge impact on babies and in turn society. This fuels my passion for supporting women in creating awareness, empowerment, respect and positivity around birth as well as creating value around the role of the mother.

Preparation

I have a holistic outlook but I am also realistic. I have no preconceptions about what birth should look or feel like, and no bias towards the method. My aim is simply to support you and give you the tools to optimise your process whatever that ends up being.

Prior to the birth of your baby I will help you to identify your options and feel well informed and confident in your choices in preparation for labour. I can be someone that you can trust to air your concerns with and listen without judgement as you healthily explore any fears or concerns.

I teach Pregnancy and Mum & Baby Yoga as incredible tools to equip mothers emotionally, physically and mentally for pregnancy, labour and after child birth for bonding and wellbeing. This form of birth preparation cultivates connection, awareness and trust in the bodies natural intelligence. I teach movements and breath work techniques which can be effectively used in labour and practices such as relaxation, positive visualisation and mindfulness to help a mother to stay present. I bring a lot of the influence of this work into being a doula.

Additionally I organise beautiful Blessingway’s (the alternative to a baby shower) to honour a woman’s transition into motherhood. Postnatally I have trained in Closing the Bones and love to offer this beautiful ritual as part of the closing cycle post the birth of my clients babies should they so wish.

The Birth of your Baby

As your doula my aim is to enhance the labour environment by holding a space where you feel nurtured, safe and empowered to tune in.

Once in the flow of labour l will help you to get in the zone so that you can focus – offering encouragement and reminding you just what a powerful goddess you are. I will serve as a calm and grounded anchor for you throughout the varying stages of labour.

Whilst I am entirely there for you – I am not a replacement for your chosen birth partner – my support extends to them, to be their ally, and to help facilitate an empathetic, intimate and loving connection. My training in Holistic Massage means I also have some nifty massage techniques I can give you or offer your birth partner guidance on. I can offer various rebozo techniques to help support you during your labour process as well as some labour related aromatherapy.

I can come to your hospital to offer support with breastfeeding post the birth of your baby should a longer stay be required (depending on individual hospital rules).

Supporting your Transformation into Motherhood

I offer practical and emotional support during the first few weeks to ease you into parenting your own way. I can offer lots of practical assistance as well as a listening ear and a reassuring hug to help you navigate options available to you.

My role is to nurture you in this precious time, enabling as much rest and recuperation as possible so that you can give your baby the best of yourself. Perhaps allowing you time for a relaxing bath, some sleep or just simply some space.

Reintegrating you into home life could mean helping you in looking after your baby and or other little ones, assisting with feeds and nappy changes, assisting with breastfeeding, helping you to navigate new equipment, setting up your nursery, discussing various parenting methods, helping around the house, grocery shopping, cooking, making tea (cake and biscuits a necessity), running errands or even taking care of small furries.

My belief is that women are deeply intuitive about what they and their babies need. I want to help to fill you with confidence and positivity to trust your own instinctual wisdom – leaving you feeling strong and capable as you get to know your little one on the outside.

I strongly believe that birth completion is a really important part of the post natal care that a woman should receive. Should you wish to, we can take time for you to reflect on your labour so that you can move on from it positively. I offer the Closing the Bones ceremony as a beautiful tool to complete the circle.

In addition I can provide Postnatal Yoga and Holistic Massage therapy as well as many holistic post natal nurturing remedies.

It would be an honour to support you during this life changing time.

If you would like to arrange a meet up or call to get to know more about my offering please do get in touch by phone or email

I look forward to hearing from you should you feel that you would like to work with me.

I attended a Hypnobirthing course in the lead up to the birth of my little girl two years ago and experienced the most wonderful calm and quick birth - something I didn't think was possible!

Since then I have been singing the praises of Hypnobirthing to everyone I know so I decided to take action and study to be a KGH teacher so I can empower and educate other mothers to have positive birth experiences.

With a previous career in PR I aim to spread the word as much as possible - everyone deserves to hear about Hypnobirthing, to be fully informed of their choices and to have an empowering birth experience. I personally don't know how any one gives birth without it!

My name is Shirley and I live in Fernhurst in the border of the three counties West Sussex, Surrey & Hampshire. We have three daughters. Two of these were hypnobirths. My third birth was at home and the most amazing experience I have ever had. I realised the importance of understanding the birth process and how to work with your body will enable you to have a positive birth experience.

Birth and children are my world! I also run world music and movement classes for babies and toddlers called Yo Baby.

I run a local Positive Birth Movement Group, a local Home Birth Support group where we lend pools for a donation, I am a Reiki Master and currently training in Indian Head Massage and as a ABM Breastfeeing Counsellor.

I am so passionate about spreading the Hypnobirth word, giving birth is a life changing experience. By practicing Hypnobirthing you are also learning new skills for life that you continue to use after your baby is born.

I currently work as a midwife at Kingston Hospital having three years midwifery training at St Thomas' Hospital, where I gained invaluable experience and knowledge caring for a huge array of women and families.

Prior to studying midwifery, I completed a Masters in Child Psychology and a BSc in Educational Studies with Early Childhood Studies. I am proud of my knowledge I have gained over the years and I have always admired the power of the human mind.

I have cared for hypnobirthing mums who have experienced analgesic free births and those who have needed emergency caesareans. Each birth is unique, powerful and emotional. I have seen hypnobirthing work and I believe removing fear and negativity can make the experience of pregnancy, labour and birth a magical one.

When I fell pregnant in 2017 with my firstborn son, I was determined to try and make the most of those precious 40 weeks and to rejoice in the amazing miracle my body was creating. At about 13 weeks pregnant I came across The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill (included as part of all Magnificent Mama courses) and it genuinely changed my life. I read it cover to cover and from this point on, had a completely different outlook on my pregnancy and birth. My thoughts on my birth plan completely changed, I became very curious about Hypnobirthing and the prospect of an enjoyable birth, and I was determined to learn more. I undertook a Hypnobirthing class and it confirmed that this was the route I wanted to take. For the first time, I felt excited about giving birth. I felt in awe of what my body could do, I felt confident! My first choice was no longer a birth that was 'calm' because I was full of drugs. I now wanted a connected and positive birth, managed only by the power of my mind and body.  My birth, my choices.

I became as informed as I could, I practised my Hypnobirthing techniques as often as possible and when my labour started I was so happy and excited! I went on to have a wonderful, calm birth experience and I'm sure that Hypnobirthing played a huge part in this. I’m eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to learn these invaluable techniques and I’m now choosing to spend my life on a mission to help other pregnant women achieve the best birth for them.
