Hypnobirthing Highlands - Teachers' Directory
I received my Midwifery degree with distinction in 2011 from The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen before moving to London to work in a large maternity unit. The majority of my time was spent within the Midwifery Led Birthing Unit facilitating mostly waterbirths before caseloading my own antenatal women in the community. Fed up of city life I then relocated to village life, firstly in Surrey and now settled in Nairn, in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. With the move came a new job in in the surrounding community providing antenatal care, postnatal care, homebirths and antenatal education sessions to the women in my care. I qualified as a KG Hypnobirthing instructor in early 2017 after witnessing women using the techniques in labour. I was astounded at how calm, relaxed and confident they were for their own birth and it inspired me to try and provide these tools to the other women in my care going forward. I have also since used these skills for the births of my two children, Euan and Iris. I found that these skills were key to me achieving relaxed and positive birth experiences, even with the need for a medical induction with my first birth.
In my spare time you can either find me on long walks with the kids accompanied by my busy Border Collie Pippa or tending to my chickens in the garden. I can't wait to meet you all and support you on your very special journey.
In 2017 I made the decision to work for myself and start my beauty and holistic therapy business Brindle Beauty. Alongside working for myself I also work for the NHS as a medical lab assistant. I regularly work with expectant mothers as I offer pregnancy massage. In September I will start my midwifery training at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen so I wanted to train as a KGHypnobirthing teacher to be able to empower women, give them confidence and strategies to maintain relaxation through birth
I started my training to become a midwife in 2007 and very quickly found my passion was for promoting and enabling normality during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I fully believe that by empowering pregnant people to trust in themselves and their bodies’ capabilities, they can achieve a fulfilling birth experience that is more likely to follow a natural course without the need for medical intervention.
I believe that through the use of antenatal education, preparation and empowerment, pregnant people can lose their fear of childbirth and enjoy this most powerful and extraordinary time in their lives. I have supported many pregnant people to achieve a positive pregnancy and birth experience and look forward to sharing this special time with you.
