Zoe is a pregnancy yoga teacher, massage therapist and hypnobirthing teacher.
It is a joy and a privilege to work with couples during their pregnancy and to help them achieve a wonderful birth that is beneficial to mum, partner and their new baby.
I am now teach Hypnobirthing in the beautiful Blooming Bamboo Wellness centre based in Seaham - easily accessible from the A19 so handy from Sunderland, East Durham, Washington, Newcastle, Gateshead
I'm a dynamic yoga teacher who initially trained in pregnancy yoga purely to feel confident in keeping a pregnant woman safe in my regular yoga classes. However the pregnancy yoga teacher training ignited a flame I didn't even know existed. Half way through the course I realised that my passion was moving in a new direction and that I could see a way to really help women during their pregnancy and birth through movement, meditation, breathing and positive affirmations.
After a period of time teaching pregnancy yoga classes, I realised that although the sessions were helping enormously there was still something missing... every woman who went on to have a wonderful empowered birth had all done HypnoBirthing to some extent. I realised this is what was missing from my teaching. I wanted to be able to provide that missing link to all my students. I completed KG HypnoBirthing teacher training and embarked on this wonderful journey of helping pregnant women believe in their bodies and self hypnotise in order for them to have the best birth possible.
I have had some excellent feedback from HypnoBirthing clients – whatever turn their birth took they remained calm and in control leaving them feeling empowered and positive.
It is such an honour and a privilege to be able to work with women and couples during such an important phase of their lives.
I work with single mums-to-be, same sex couples and mixed sex couples. Whatever your situation HypnoBirthing will help you to achieve a positive birth and I would love to help you on this incredible journey.
I truly believe that Hypnobirthing is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your baby. Over the past few years of teaching pregnancy yoga, this is the one tool I have seen work time and time again. Attending a course is the most fantastic present to yourself, your partner and your baby. And then of course doing the practice is what really takes it to the next level.
I now have courses that serve the whole of the north east of England and offer privates sessions in the comfort of your own home or the beautiful Blooming Bamboo yoga studio.
“I was very nervous about birth before. After the course I felt so informed with how my body is able to give birth efficiently I was much more confident and really ready to go for a natural birth. I was relaxed about dealing with contractions and how to get through them. It made staying at home for as long as possible easy and focused. The course really made my birth exactly as I had hoped and my husband was amazing, as we were both so calm about what was happening.
The birth of our son, Otto was amazing. I put my husband and my state mind – being relaxed and ready – down to what we learned and practiced from our course. So big thank you to Zoe!”
“Attending Zoe’s HypnoBirthing course helped us both to remain calm, knowing that giving birth is not an emergency! I used the breathing techniques throughout and stayed calm. Things went very smoothly and I really do think that was down to the HypnoBirthing course.
Thank you Zoe for passing on your HypnoBirthing knowledge! You helped us to realise giving birth is not an emergency. We remained calm when our surges started and throughout the birth of our beautiful baby boy. We managed to stay at home until I was 6cm dilated, (I think we would have gone into hospital sooner if we hadn’t done the course). We truly believe things went so smoothly due to attending your course and your kind words. Thank you :)”
“Zoe’s HypnoBirthing course is great. Zoe is a friendly and relaxed teacher, who goes out of her way to make sure everyone is getting the most they can out of the course. It definitely made a difference to how relaxed I felt in the run up to the birth – the importance of this can’t be underestimated as you know it’s coming for a long time! It also made dealing with contractions easy. And then when things didn’t go to plan we were in a position to ask the right questions and not just go along with whatever was suggested. Even though I ended up having interventions (drip, epidural and forceps in the last hour or so), the course gave me the confidence to ask the right questions to make sure I was making informed decisions so it all felt like my decision rather than just agreeing. I would recommend Zoe’s HypnoBirthing course highly.”
"Our lovely little boy was born 5:09 am on 22 June weighing 6oz 10lbs. He really was in rather a hurry as in the end I was only in labour for 4 hours (!) And delivered him spontaneously and naturally with a bit of gas and air! In truth i didn't realise how far along i was when we set of for the hospital (just as well it is just around the corner from where we live) as by the time we got through the front doors (430am) and up to the delivery suite I was fully dilated and he was ready. I wanted to thank you as I thought your your classes were a great help in preparing physically (I continued to do some of the stretches at home in the run up to the big day) and whilst I can't claim to have had one of Ina May''s orgasmic births (I'm really not convinced they exist!) I was delighted that it was a natural one.
I'm convinced that if you get your mind in a good place then the experience can be a positive one. So, thank you my dear, for loaning me the Ina May book, teaching me some moves and steering me toward hypnotherapy. They all contributed to what many of the midwives were impressed by as a really rather quick labour!"
“I attended Zoe’s pregnancy yoga classes from the early stages of my pregnancy right up until the birth of my son. Zoe also offered me pregnancy massages in my final six weeks of pregnancy. Both the yoga and massages were instrumental in ensuring I was relaxed and ready for labour and I would not hesitate to recommend her to friends.”
“The best thing I did was to combine Yoga class and massage. But also talking to Zoe and follow her advice for postures during pregnancy and labour.”
“I started doing antenatal yoga with Zoe at 18 weeks pregnant with the aim of improving my posture and relieving some of my pregnancy aches and pains as I had been having real problems with my lower back since early in my pregnancy.
It has helped me achieve this and so much more… I have mastered and learnt so much about breathing techniques to not only prepare me for labour but to also help with destressing and relaxing now. I now feel equipped with being able to use different breathing styles for different stages of labour and contractions.
The best I feel in pregnancy is after a yoga class with Zoe …a wonderful mix of feeling invigorated yet totally relaxed.
She has taught me and guided me through different positions for labour and those to practice to help get baby into the optimal position for labour. She has hugely increased the confidence I have in my body’s ability to deliver my baby naturally and not only am I now not fearful about childbirth – I am actually looking forward to it!
I am already looking forward to post natal yoga with Zoe!”
“I had a very lovely calm labour, a lot of which I believe was down to attending your yoga classes over the last months. It was a hugely positive experience for me, and I was able to birth my boy with only gas and air, no tearing or stitches, and it set me up well for the challenges of caring for an early baby.”
I hold small group courses Seaham in a beautiful studio right by the beach (perfect for a lunchtime stroll to blow the cobwebs away).
