Hypnobirthing Yorkshire W - Teachers' Directory
I am a local labour ward midwife and part time business owner! I have recently established wellness rooms and I am so excited to start offering hypnobirthing from here. I have two beautiful children and enjoy spending my time off with them, so when teaching families or busy couples I’m extremely happy to be flexible with days and times! I offer a relaxed teaching approach and look forward to meeting lots of new parents to be!
I have studied hypnobirthing with KGHypnobirthing which is one of the world leaders in hypnobirthing and I can’t wait to be able to share it with you. I’m passionate about helping others to have an empowering experience, its about you making the decisions about your birth. I have an excellent understanding about different birth scenarios after speaking with a variety of different mum’s about their birth experiences and I also have first-hand experience on how hypnobirthing works as I used it throughout my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. Prior to using hypobirthing I was extremely nervous about any type of ‘medical’ environment and the idea of having a baby terrified me beyond belief. After listening to other peoples stories for years and watching unrealistic births on TV I was petrified at the thought of having a baby. My anxiety prior to becoming pregnant with regards to healthcare became so severe that I suffered from panic attacks and sleepless nights if I had an upcoming medical appointment. When I became pregnant I knew that I needed to do something to help me overcome my anxiety in order to ensure that me, my husband and mainly my baby had a positive birth experience. The fear of causing my unborn baby harm due to my anxiety gave me the determination to find a method to remain calm during my pregnancy. I was keen to curb my fears in order to give my child the best possible start in life and that’s when I discovered hypnobirthing. Despite a hospital transfer via ambulance and a baby born prematurely at 36 weeks I was able to use hypnobirthing effectively, birthing my baby after 26 hours of active labour without any intervention and just the use of just gas and air during the 2nd stage of labour. Through having this positive experience, not only was giving birth and meeting daughter the proudest moment of my life. I was proud of me in a way that I cannot describe, I had changed from a woman who lived in fear to a mother who felt like she could do anything.

Whether this is your first or subsequent baby, it is a very exciting time and we begin to plan and prepare from the moment we discover we are pregnant. Decorating the nursery, shopping for a cot and a pram and baby clothes, arranging the baby shower - these are all things we are quick to start thinking about.
So, how do we prepare our minds and bodies for the upcoming labour and birth? What would be the ideal way?

I am Lindsey Fake. I was very afraid of giving birth to my baby because of all the negative birth stories so many other women told me and also the constant stream of horrific births on TV! One Born Every Minute being one of them!
I knew I didn't want a birth like that and felt I needed to educate myself in order to remove the fear associated with labour and birth which our culture had instilled in me. I looked up hypnobirthing and to be honest, I hadn't heard of it before. The more I looked into it, the more I knew it was the way to put me on the right tracks. After all, what had I got to lose?
My husband thought it was just for hippies and was 'mumbo jumbo'... He came along anyway just to support me and was a convert from the very first session! It's so logical and common sense so appealed to him. The scales dropped from our eyes as we realised that we have not been putting much faith in women and their bodies and what they are capable of. Women are designed to give birth comfortably but with all the negative conditioning we receive daily, it's no wonder we fear it.
Hypnobirthing in Leeds will help remove the fear and negativity with simple yet effective techniques so you and your birth partner can enjoy your pregnancy and look forward to birthing your baby.

I am a secondary school teacher living in Wakefield (from Liverpool originally) with two boys of my own.
My own two birth experiences are as different as day and night and I know first-hand the difference that hypnobirthing can make. My first (traumatic) birth has changed me in many ways, and I understand the emotional pain and grief that lingers like a shadow.
Like me, you might have come to hypnobirthing with little knowledge of it but with the desire for a different experience. I know that this is possible and I am confident that I can help you achieve a better birth using this method.
I can’t change my past, but I can change the future for someone else.
My hope is that the people I teach will never know the pain that I have endured to get here.
