Hello, i'm Tanya, a practicing midwife working in the NHS since 2015 and a Mum of two boys. I am passionate about optimising the emotional wellbeing of women and couples during pregnancy, birthing and parenthood.
I set up and run Maternity Holistic's, which offers birthing preparation, antenatal/postnatal relaxation and birth trauma resolution therapy - all courses and treatments recognises the impact of the mind and emotions - as well as the body - on the experience of pregnancy, birthing and parenthood.
When I first found out I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was excited, but also scared and nervous about giving birth! I’d seen all the painful births shown on TV and film, I’d heard all the negative stories throughout my life. I even remember having dreams where I was pregnant and being scared about actually having to give birth.
Thankfully, I’d also heard about Hypnobirthing, and the positive birth stories associated with it, so I thought it would be good to give it a go. I booked onto a course with my husband who hadn’t a clue what I was on about, but wanted to plicate his hormonal wife so came along.
I’m so glad I booked the class, after the first one I left and actually felt excited about birthing my baby! I realised hypnobirthing wasn’t at all airy fairy, it was logical, scientific, evidence based, it just made a shed load of sense. It gave me an understanding as to how my body was working and would work in labour and birth. It also made me realise I had choices and options when it came to how I wanted to birth my baby which made me feel calm and empowered.
I am so passionate about birth and supporting people to make informed, confident and empowered decisions that are right for them, their baby and their birth.

I am Mum to two boys and had incredibly positive birth experiences. The first in England in a birthing pool in hospital and the second also in hospital in Portugal. I believe that everyone deserves to have the knowledge and tools that will give them confidence and empower them to make decisions that are right for them wherever and however they decide to give birth. Hypnobirthing provides so much more than tools and techniques, as well as providing an invaluably important role for a birth partner, and really sets you up for your life ahead as parents and for the start of the baby's life too. I love being able to support people on this phenomenal journey.
I came to hypnobirthing firstly through my midwifery training. I witnessed some truly amazing births of women who were using hypnobirthing which were so calm and relaxed. I agreed with the science and logic behind why it works so when it came to giving birth to my son I knew I had to learn hypnobirthing for myself.
Now being a mother I understand the life changing moment of birth. My birth didn’t necessarily go to ‘plan’ but by using hypnobirthing techniques I had a quick and calm delivery in which I felt able to cope and let my body do what it needed to do every step of the way.
As a qualified practicing midwife I am very passionate about empowering women and couples to have the best birth experience for them. I truly believe in supporting women to make informed choices about their birth as the birth of their child will stay with them forever. I offer a holistic and flexible approach which can be tailored to the individual needs of each couple and I can provide information and support on the best possible way to achieve a normal birth.
I’m Katie, a nurse of nine years and mum of two living in Leeds.
As a health care professional I believe in evidence-based care. Once I started to research aspects of birth during my own pregnancy, I couldn’t believe how empowered it made me feel in my decisions and in my body. I'd love to help others achieve the same confidence.
Hi, I’m Lauren, mum of two boys and a lover of tea! I live in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, with my husband and two sons.
My hypnobirthing journey began when I became pregnant with my second son. My first birth experience had been less than positive and had left me with a lot of anxiety about going through it again the second time round. I had heard lots of positive stories about hypnobirthing, so I decided to give it a try. The information I learned on the hypnobirthing course about the science of birth just made so much sense to me, and gave me a greater understanding of my first birth experience. And the breathing and relaxation techniques were so simple and easy to do, that I thought ‘this is great! I can’t believe more women don’t know about this– it makes so much sense once you know it’.
My second birth was such a positive experience – a world of difference from my first one. Because of the hypnobirthing techniques I had learned, I was able to remain so calm and stay present in the moment without panic or fear.
I couldn’t believe the difference between the two birth experiences, and decided that I was going to train to teach hypnobirthing as I feel so passionately about its benefits.
I think no woman should begin her birthing journey in fear, and want to help as many women as possible to create the calm, positive and empowering birth experience that I now know is possible.
Outside of hypnobirthing I have spent the majority of my career working for a charity supporting people that have experienced crime, and I am a qualified Person Centred Therapeutic Counsellor.
I offer group and private hypnobirthing classes in West Yorkshire.
I look forward to hearing from you, Lauren x
