Positiva Hypnobirthing
Hello! I’m Charlotte and I’m Mum to two boys. My first was born in a birthing pool in a hospital in Leeds, England. The second was born in hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. Different countries, different medical cultures and both were incredibly positive experiences.
My husband and I did a Hypnobirthing course in preparation for the first birth, after having completed another antenatal course which seemed to be focussed on getting through the birth. This didn’t sit right with me and after some research, Hypnobirthing seemed to be the missing link. We didn’t even realise how much it would change our lives until after the birth itself.
The first birth was a completely euphoric experience. I had an amazing time giving birth, confidently and calmly. Until it happened I didn’t know it could actually happen like that. I love sharing this positive story for other women to understand this is possible for them too, and my husband much to his surprise also became a huge advocate of Hypnobirthing.
For the second birth in Portugal we had some challenges navigating a new system and medical culture, however, using our Hypnobirthing training not only with the technical tools but also to know my choices and be able to communicate my preferences clearly, I experienced another wonderful birth.
After experiencing the positive impact of Hypnobirthing (twice!) it made complete sense to me to train to become a teacher. Since then it has become my life’s purpose to give people the opportunity to access this knowledge that will give them confidence to make decisions that are right for them and ultimately have a positive birth experience. I truly believe that Hypnobirthing works for all types of births.
