Become a Registered KGHypnobirthing Practitioner
KGHypnobirthing offers a three day in depth training to teach hypnobirthing, with an online Introduction to Hypnotherapy module for people who do not already have a hypnotherapy . There is also an online Birthing Foundation module for people who are not midwives or obstetricians. Both the Introduction to Hypnotherapy and the Birthing Foundation module need to be completed before taking the Hypnobirthing module.
The course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives as proof of the standard of training we offer. On qualification you will be included in the Teachers’ Listing which appears high on the search engines and is where mothers look who are searching for a hypnobirthing class.
Being a KGHypnobirthing teacher is supremely satisfying. To be invited into a woman’s life at this special time of pregnancy, knowing that you are going to make it even better, is a huge privilege. We regard it as our responsibility to tell her everything we know to help her have the best possible birth. If we don’t it’s possible that no-one else will.
Who Should Become a Registered KGHypnobirthing Teacher?
People train to be hypnobirthing teachers from different backgrounds, and each brings the benefit of their experience to add to the knowledge they acquire in the KG Hypnobirthing Teacher Training.
The knowledge of midwives is enormous, but midwives have said they are surprised how much they learnt on a KGHypnobirthing Teacher Training Course. They learnt to look a little differently at the way they have worked for years, and it renews the vision that brought them into the profession in the first place.
Obstetricians also now realise the benefits that KG Hypnobirthing brings and welcome the opportunity to take a fresh view of the area in which they have so much knowledge and expertise.
A hypnotherapist who may already understand the mind/body continuum is amazed at just how powerfully the programming of the mind affects the intuitive responses of the body.
A mother who has given birth using hypnobirthing already really understands how it works because she has experienced it. She already knows the anatomy and physiology, the theory and the practice, and her story can be an inspiration to other women.
All these people and more have trained in hypnobirthing and are making a difference to the lives of women and their babies.
Appreciation for an inspiring, motivating and educational day. Wonderful to network, catch up with colleagues past, and forge new friendships.
Birth is the most formative experience of our lives. A baby that enters the world gently and calmly, to be greeted by a mother who is drug-free and alert, starts life in the best possible way.
The Complete KGHypnobirthing Teacher Training Course
The course consists of three modules:
Hypnobirthing Online - Birthing Foundation
A professional hypnobirthing teacher needs to have a good grounding in the anatomy and physiology of birth and midwifery practices, so she fully understands the logic of hypnobirthing, how it affects the body and the hormones, and why it is so powerful and effective. This section includes the principles of active birth and an introduction to rebozo techniques which can be extremely helpful for example if a baby is back-to-back or a breech presentation, midwives, obstetricians or people who have an in-depth training in birth receive exemption from this section, though many decide they would like to take this module as they find they learn to look at things rather differently.
Birthing Foundation is web based learning with Katharine Graves, Elizabeth Nightingale RM and Kemi Johnson RM. Please complete the online course by a week before you attend the rest of the course, though we will always do our best to be flexible to help you. This module will then be permanently available for your reference.
It is a requirement of starting the KG Hypnobirthing Teacher Training Module that you have completed the Hypnotherapy for Hypnobirthing and the Birthing Foundation modules first (unless you are entitled to exemption from either of these modules).
Midwives - If you are a midwife, you are exempt from the Birthing Foundation module.
Hypnotherapy for Hypnobirthing - Online Course
Anyone can read a hypnotherapy script but, if you are going to understand the course that you are training to present rather than just administering it by rote, you need to have a deeper understanding of how and why it works so well, and experience of delivering and receiving hypnotherapy. We take our responsibility in creating the course and in training teachers seriously. We believe we are the best, and we want you to be proud that you are the best too.
It is a requirement of starting the KG Hypnobirthing Teacher Training Module that you have completed the Hypnotherapy for Hypnobirthing and the Birthing Foundation modules first and have also completed the assessments. (Unless you are entitled to exemption from either of these modules).
Hypnotherapists and NLP Practitioners - If you are a hypnotherapist you are exempt from the Hypnotherapy for Hypnobirthing module.
Hypnobirthing Teacher Training - 3 day course
These three days are the core of the KG Hypnobirthing Teacher Training Course. KG Hypnobirthing is far more than a few techniques to use in labour. If that was all, we could teach you in half a day. It is a complete antenatal programme that is logical and profound. Hypnobirthing fundamentally changes a woman’s reality so that she releases fear, trusts her instincts, and learns to work with her body. It is essential to understand how the system in which she finds herself works, so that she knows the alternatives available to her, and the implications of her choices.
All our courses are designed to give you the best support from your teacher. For larger groups we give you two teachers, usually a senior KGH teacher and an experienced midwife. We make sure you are well cared for and receive the very best training, and our support continues to be available to you after the course.
The Course Will Give You The Skills To Teach:
- The reasons why KGHypnobirthing is so effective
- The difference between a natural and medical birth
- The natural efficiency and comfort of the body in labour
- The simplicity of a natural and calm birth and how to achieve it
- The power of the mind
- How to build confidence and let go of fears
- How to apply KG Hypnobirthing principles in labour
- The importance of the father
- The relationship between mother, father and baby
- Nutrition in pregnancy
The course is carefully thought out and it works, and everyone teaches the core material. But it has evolved over the years as it is dynamic and alive, and we welcome suggestions for improvement from our teachers. We aim to be the best, and we are confident that, in ten years’ time, as KGHypnobirthing evolves, we will become even better.
We recognise and appreciate individuality within a structured and supportive framework.

A special feature of our course is that we not only teach the full in-depth KGHypnobirthing course, but we also train you to teach couples in how to apply it and give them the knowledge to understand what the alternatives are and the implication of suggested interventions, so they can made the best choices for them and for their babies.
A unique feature of our course is that we introduce our teachers in simple rebozo techniques. These simple and gentle techniques can be especially helpful for a woman whose baby is breech or back-to-back. It is also comforting and relaxing for any woman in labour.
You will be given all the tools you need to teach KGHypnobirthing effectively and professionally:
The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves
Colour and Calmness Relaxation CD
Practical Teaching Folder
Sample Parent Handout Folder
At the end of the course there is an open book assessment for you to do in your own time. The purpose is to enable you to go over the material which is included in the course and The Hypnobirthing Book so that you feel confident you have it ‘at your finger tips’ ready to teach your first course. This is not an academic dissertation, but rather a practical demonstration of knowledge and understanding.
The KG Hypnobirthing Teacher Training Diploma
On completion of the assessment you receive your KGHypnobirthing Teacher Training Diploma and are entitled to use the letters DipHB(KGH) after your name as designation of the quality of your knowledge and training.
Teaching and Business Support
We provide a unique level of back-up from our office, and teachers have remarked on the quality of the help they receive. Our aim is to support you in being the very best hypnobirthing teachers who enjoy being part of our friendly and supportive group.
We have public and private Facebook groups which are used extensively:
- KGH Teachers is a private Facebook group where current teachers can discuss matters relating to their hypnobirthing teaching and learn from the experience of other teachers.
- Hypnobirthing Group is a public Facebook group to encourage general discussion around hypnobirthing and birth - any questions relating to pregnancy which pregnant women and their partners may ask. We invite all of the couples we teach to this group so they become part of our ever growing family and disseminate the knowledge of hypnobirthing to people who have not yet heard about it.
- Hypnobirthing Courses is a public Facebook group which is available for KGH teachers to promote their courses.
We understand that support on the start-up of your business and on-going growth is essential to your success. We have a dedicated Facebook group to support you in this area. You can ask questions and share your challenges, as well as your successes. It is similar to our KGH Teachers Facebook group, where we encourage peer support to give us all food for thought and the ability to learn from each other. Within this group we share marketing ideas and tips, and we are developing a library of resources both for teaching and running your business. This area of our support is ongoing and evolves with the needs of our teachers.
Hypnobirthing is wonderful, and it is developing fast. We are widely acknowledged as the leader in this field, and we know that we need to develop so that we become even better. It is a rewarding and satisfying journey for all of us.
The Demand for Hypnobirthing Practitioners is Growing
As hypnobirthing becomes better known, and KGHypnobirthing is widely acknowledged as the leading hypnobirthing course, more and more couples are attending classes and the demand for qualified and accredited KGH teachers continues. Hypnobirthing has benefited from the ‘stamp of approval’ from both politicians and local NHS trusts with a number of them now offering their own hypnobirthing classes. This provides healthy competition, and more and more women who would never have heard about hypnobirthing are being introduced to it through their hospitals and the snowball effect continues. With nearly 800,000 births in this country each year KGHypnobirthing and our accredited teachers are at the forefront of this birthing revolution.
