Samantha Adams – South Downs Doula & Hypnobirthing

Hello! My name is Sam and I am a qualified KGHypnobirthing practitioner based in the village of Westbourne, near Emsworth on the south coast.

KGHypnobirthing was invaluable to my partner and I when preparing for the birth of our first baby. The classes we attended together helped to strengthen our bond and build mutual trust, resilience and confidence. It helped my partner to engage and take a proactive and important role in my birth experience. It armed us with powerful knowledge about the physiology of birth as well as what clinical options might be presented to us in different scenarios and the variable outcomes that we might experience.

There is no understating it: KGHypnobirthing turned my preconceptions of birth upside down and gave me the positive experience I deserved.

Following my passion for all things pregnancy, birth and beyond, I have loved becoming a KGHypnobirthing Instructor and look forward to passing on the knowledge and techniques that will equip you to have a calm, confident birthing experience and an empowered, happy and healthy start to your parenthood journey.

I really feel that antenatal education and preparation is such a hugely underrated tool to have in your kit before you give birth. Information and knowledge is the best way to arm yourself against doubt, confusion, anxiety and fear. KGHypnobirthing is the best way to prepare for a positive birth, complete with all the antenatal information you might get from another birthing course (and more), as well as techniques to manage and own your experience, no matter the type of birth you choose to have.

Location

My name is Samantha and I have been a staunch KGHypnobirthing advocate since having my first baby in 2018. I went on to have a second baby in 2020 and in January 2024, I retrained as a birth and postnatal doula. I have a passionate interest in everything to do with pregnancy and birth and I sincerely believe that all new mothers and their families deserve gentle, caring and informative support during the huge and wonderful transition into parenthood.

I have a diploma in KGHypnobirthing and also have infant first aid training and have completed a Biomechanics for Birth course.

When I’m not busy educating and supporting new families, my own small children keep me on my toes! I enjoy reading, walking, going to the theatre and singing, and I love cooking (and eating!) and being outside.

My KGHypnobirthing course is organised into 4x separate weekly sessions, each one 3 hours in length. The first session focuses on how KGHypnobirthing works, the science behind hypnotherapy and how your mind and your body work in synchronicity to achieve physiological birth.

The second session introduces some of the techniques and practical ways that you and your partner can use KGHypnobirthing during the latter stages of pregnancy and during your birth. We will learn about some of the physical aspects of birth and some things that might be considered unusual (breech, back-to-back etc) and how KGHypnobirthing can affect outcomes.

The third session is all about planning for your birth. It involves learning more about our maternity system and how to navigate it safely and confidently. You will leave feeling empowered to make your own informed decisions for yourself and your family throughout the rest of your pregnancy and birth.

The final session covers the details of giving birth. We’ll talk about the different stages of labour, how and when to use the different techniques and relaxations you’ve been practicing, and things to consider when putting your birth plan together.

My course is held at the WOW Clinic in Westbourne, near Emsworth. Check my website for the latest dates and availability. Group courses are charged at £250 per couple and include a copy of The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves along with free downloadable relaxation tracks.

I also offer private 1:1 courses which I can teach in the comfort of your own home, at a time that suits you and your birth partner. These courses start from £350 depending on your location, but they are slightly more bespoke to your individual circumstances and usually take less time to complete than the group courses.
