Why Choose Hypnobirthing?

KGHypnobirthing is a complete antenatal training programme which is simple, logical and profound. The results from hospitals, midwives, mothers and fathers speak for themselves and so read our testimonials and birth stories. These are a true testament to how well it works. Hypnobirthing is centred on releasing fear and building confidence in the natural process of birth through practising relaxation techniques and asking questions about your care. Read more about the history of hypnobirthing.

Katharine Graves, founder of KG Hypnobirthing and the Hypnobirthing Association has created the course and developed it over time in response to what mothers, their partners and babies need and to make it more effective. It is so much more than breathing, visualisations and relaxations for birth. You probably have many questions about how to achieve the best possible birth but only when you learn about the physiology of birth and how the mind and body work together, as well as how the medical system in which we find ourselves work so we know the questions we need to ask to achieve the birth we want. You don’t know what you don’t know without the help and information from your KGH class. Her outstanding knowledge and skills have resulted in a comprehensive, in-depth antenatal course being accepted as the premier UK course for professionals and parents alike.  Read more about Katharine.

Appreciation for an inspiring, motivating and educational day.  Wonderful to network, catch up with colleagues past, and forge new friendships.

Covid-19 Update:

  1. While we are unable to hold face-to-face courses because of the Covid-19 emergency we are offering virtual courses for parents and for teacher training with exactly the same content as the normal face to face courses.
  2. Until we are sure about safety, our parents courses will not be held at St Thomas’ Hospital but at another venue in the area.
  3. We will resume face-to-face courses when it is safe to do so.

Culture of Fear From time immemorial our birth culture has been one of fear, with horror stories passed down from generations of women, strangers, friends and colleagues. British media shows ‘warts and all’ documentaries following women having difficult, painful and frightening birth experiences, where mum has to be rescued by medical staff. Confident and Calm Quite simply, we have lost much of our innate knowledge about how birth should be. Pregnancy Sickness - How Hypnobirthing Can Help

Many pregnant women suffer from sickness in pregnancy. It used to be called Morning Sickness but this was inaccurate as, although for many women the sickness may only happen in the morning, for others it can go on all day. Most women find that they return to normal after the first trimester. For others this condition can continue for various lengths of time and occasionally throughout their pregnancy. How to control pregnancy sickness? The important thing if you suffer from pregnancy sickness is to keep hydrated. If even this is impossible it may require hospitalisation.  So what can you do to help? Pregnancy sickness can be worse in the morning because you have not eaten overnight, and women are often Read More
