Hypnobirthing Essex - Teachers' Directory
For over 24 years I have had the privilege of working with many women, supporting them through conception, pregnancy and in a post-natal capacity. I have also worked with new mothers and their babies immediately after their births. I am so excited to now be able to teach KGHypnobirthing, I know that the knowledge and information that unfolds during the course will be invaluable to the parents and to the baby. The skills they learn will enable them to have the most empowering birth and the effects of the course will continue to blossom through their relationship and the rest of their lives. I am a fully qualified Cranio Sacral Therapist, Reflexologist, Aromatherapist, Shiatsu Practitioner and KGHypnobirthing Teacher. I have three grown up children. I am empathetic have a great sense of humour and am a home maker too.
Hi. I'm Verity, a lawyer, birth aficionado and mum of two boys (and therefore proud owner of a terrifying number of toy cars, trains, tractors and diggers...)
After a difficult birth with my first baby, I did a hypnobirthing course and had an absolutely magical homebirth with baby number two with no pain relief apart from a birthing pool and a bit of swearing at my husband. And all this was despite being an absolute cynic and having a hefty 9lb 1 baby.
Before having children my take on giving birth was pretty accurately summed up by Miranda from Sex and the City: "When this gets going, don't let anyone get all cheerleadery on me. I don't want any of that, you can do it, push push" And actually I still have that view as with hypnobirthing YOU are your own cheerleader and doing a hypnobirthing course will equip you with all the tools you need to know that you CAN do it (without any overzealous support from the sidelines).
I consider it an immense privilege to empower women to have the best birth possible for them.
So if you want a no-nonsense course which gives you and your birth partner the facts about birth and the options open to you and think that I would be a good fit for you then get in touch. (And if your birth partner needs any encouragement then the good news is that the course I run from my home is only 150 yards from a pub...)
I cover the North Essex/Suffolk region including:
- Bury St Edmunds
I am a registered midwife, KGHypnobirthing instructor, former university lecturer, mother of two girls, and resident of Highams Park.
I have a first class honours degree in midwifery from King’s College London. My dissertation was on women’s experience of a diagnosis of tongue-tie. My training was at St. Thomas’ Hospital, where I currently work part-time. I had a lovely homebirth with my second daughter while I was a student.
Before training as a midwife I was a university researcher and senior lecturer in education development. I have lots of experience of qualitative research – talking to people about their experiences – in the context of healthcare and learning, and learning for healthcare practice. I had my first daughter at Whipps Cross Hospital while I was a researcher, just completing a project looking at teamworking on delivery suites.
I am a feminist and am deeply passionate about supporting women, managing expectations, smoothing the transition to motherhood and helping women to make informed choices. By teaching couples with KGHypnobirthing I aim to empower women to have a calm, comfortable and positive birth.

As well as a KGHypnobirthing teacher, I am a Therapist (individuals and couples), Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner.
Following the 'hypnobirth' of my first baby in 2015, I decided to do the training to become a KG Hypnobirthing teacher.
To now be able to be a part of someone's personal pregnancy journey, to show them how / help them to have a relaxed, positive and calm pregnancy and labour is quite something. Combining this with my hypnotherapy skills and my experience as a therapist, works so well because I have found that they all go hand in hand.

Welcome to The Hypnobirth School, congratulations you're pregnant! My name is Cheryl Samuels and I'm a midwife working in the Essex area. They were prepared and informed but also calm, relaxed and positive, whichever road their birth journey took them. Attending a kghypnobirthing course will teach you everything you need to know, about how to have a calm and positive birth.
I am a fully qualified Yoga Teacher, specialising in Pregnancy Yoga, and offering Parent & Baby Massage & Yoga classes. More and more of my Pregnancy Yoga clients had begun asking me about Hypnobirthing and the KG Hypnobirthing Training provided perfect course for me to be able to offer this. Pregnancy Yoga and Hypnobirthing compliment each other extremely well, both aim to promote feelings of calm and deep relaxation in addition to developing confidence and trust with the physical body throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
After birthing both my childen using hypnobirthing techniques, I now want to share my experience and knowledge with other expectant mums and help them have an enjoyable and mindful pregnancy. I want them to be aware of the miracle of nature and help them prepare for the birth that they want.

I am a qualified doula and hypnobirthing teacher. I have extensive experience in child and baby care as well as working as a maternity assistant in the NHS for over 5 years. I am a qualified breast-feeding counsellor and teach mothers how to cope with babies with sleep problems. I have passionate belief in natural childbirth, in which hypnobirthing plays a huge part.
I believe in creating the right environment for everyone to benefit from a holistic way of life. My approach is to be as logical and as realistic as possible. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge. I have been teaching pre & post natal Pilates and Yoga for 12 years and last year when I fell pregnant with my first child I knew I wanted a natural birth. I researched all the schools of thought around this and found Katharine Graves method to be the most logical and comprehensive and guess what it worked! I immediately wanted to share this with other Mums to be, as why isn’t this the norm for women? Move over "one born every minute" Hello Hypnobirthing!
Before I discovered hypnobirthing, I enjoyed a successful career in store management for a major retailer. Since having my son, I cannot imagine anything more fulfilling than helping other parents to get the best out of their birth experience for themselves and their baby.
I am originally from South Yorkshire, but now live in Essex with my husband and our son. I regularly spend time in Yorkshire with my family, and therefore offer teaching in both locations- I am keen to make sure more and more people are learning about this amazing way to birth!
Mama of 2 boys, from Yorkshire, now living in Essex. My life goal is empowerment of women and their families In birth and early motherhood. No matter how you look at it, it's a super challenging time, it takes a village that most of us don't have. I'm building one for my mamas (*no actual bricks*).
Hello! My name is Linda. I am a fully qualified Hypnobirthing teacher, mum to two beautiful hypnobabies and an enthusiastic home baker.
I discovered Hypnobirthing when I was pregnant with my first child, George. It completely changed my perception of giving birth and left me feeling empowered, confident and really excited at the prospect. I went on to have a fantastic home birth, in a birth pool with no pain relief needed. Hypnobirthing gave me the tools to achieve this
I have been a secondary school teacher for 9 years and absolutely love inspiring young people. After having my second child I decided to combine my teaching experience and my enthusiasm for HypnoBirthing and train to be a HypnoBirthing teacher myself. I am thrilled that my teaching has taken a new direction. Teaching women and their birth partners is so valuable as birthing your child is one of the most important events in any persons life. Teaching hynobirthing also means I get to bake as I make homemade cakes for every class – I could not be called Bun in the Oven Birthing without offering decent cakes!
I feel so privileged to have stumbled upon HypnoBirthing because it made my birthing experiences so positive. I want all women to have access to this course so they can in turn have a wonderful birth. I run small group classes from my home in Chelmsford, Essex and am also happy to travel to your home if you and your partner would like a private course.
My name is Gemma Barry. I have enjoyed over 10 years working as a children’s nurse and have been practicing in complementary therapies for the last eight years.
During my time as a complementary therapist I started to focus on Pregnancy Massage and Pregnancy Reflexology and very quickly become interested in the effects of relaxation on pregnancy and into birth. This lead me to research the benefits of HypnoBirthing and it quickly became apparent that this would be an invaluable tool for my pregnant clients and I trained to become a teacher.
I feel privileged to work with pregnant women and can offer Pregnancy Massage, Pregnancy Reflexology, Baby Massage and Baby Yoga to complement my HypnoBirthing classes, offering huge benefits to both the mother and baby. By working with expectant parents I am able to show them how to use simple techniques throughout pregnancy and during labour to ease symptoms and promote relaxation. Once your baby is here baby massage and yoga is a great way for mums and dads to bond with their baby and show parents ways in which to sooth their baby holistically.

I first found out about hypnobirthing from a friend late in my first pregnancy. I read the book, and I knew immediately that hypnobirthing was for me. My name is Steph, Mum to three beautiful boys, a Birth & Post Natal Doula and Hypnobirthing Teacher.
I first learned of the benefits of Hypnobirthing when I attended a birth as a Doula in early 2011. My client was having her third baby and was using Hypnobirthing during the birth process, as she had done with the last two births also. She delivered her baby at home, in a calm and quiet atmosphere with no pain relief. She had achieved the birth SHE wanted. It was an empowering experience to be part of and I just knew that this was something I had to learn more about.
I embarked upon looking for ways in which to learn this skill and found Katharine Graves. Her teaching methods suited me completely. Having completed the necessary studying and assessments, I am became a proud member of the Hypnobirthing Association and earned a Diploma in Hypnobirthing in May 2011.
I have had the honour and privilege of teaching many clients over the last two years and nothing makes me happier than hearing their birth stories afterwards.Of course I also get to witness a lot of these births first hand too and as well as seeing how ecstatic the new parents are at the results, the reaction you see from Midwives and other Health professionals is priceless! More and more Midwives are becoming aware of the beneifts of Hypnobirthing, and extremely welcoming of it.
What I have learnt from Hypnobirthing is that it emotionally prepares you for the birth, come what may. And to me that is the most important part! We can achieve anything we want to if we put our minds to it. If ONE woman can have an empowered birth that she feels in control of, than ANY woman can!
