Hypnobirthing Essex - Teachers' Directory
I am a registered midwife, KGHypnobirthing instructor, former university lecturer, mother of two girls, and resident of Highams Park.
I have a first class honours degree in midwifery from King’s College London. My dissertation was on women’s experience of a diagnosis of tongue-tie. My training was at St. Thomas’ Hospital, where I currently work part-time. I had a lovely homebirth with my second daughter while I was a student.
Before training as a midwife I was a university researcher and senior lecturer in education development. I have lots of experience of qualitative research – talking to people about their experiences – in the context of healthcare and learning, and learning for healthcare practice. I had my first daughter at Whipps Cross Hospital while I was a researcher, just completing a project looking at teamworking on delivery suites.
I am a feminist and am deeply passionate about supporting women, managing expectations, smoothing the transition to motherhood and helping women to make informed choices. By teaching couples with KGHypnobirthing I aim to empower women to have a calm, comfortable and positive birth.
Hi and welcome to my listing. Congratulations on your pregnancy. These are very exciting times!
As well as a KGHypnobirthing teacher, I am a Therapist (individuals and couples), Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner.
Following the 'hypnobirth' of my first baby in 2015, I decided to do the training to become a KG Hypnobirthing teacher.
To now be able to be a part of someone's personal pregnancy journey, to show them how / help them to have a relaxed, positive and calm pregnancy and labour is quite something. Combining this with my hypnotherapy skills and my experience as a therapist, works so well because I have found that they all go hand in hand.
If you would like to know more, or would like to work with me through your pregnancy, to ensure you have a beautiful, calm and relaxed birth, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am based near Brentwood, however I do travel to the surrounding areas and further afield.
As well as being a KGHypnobirthing teacher I am also a mother, midwife, doula and massage therapist.
I am passionate about helping women and their partners have a positive and empowering transition to motherhood.
I facilitate monthly Positive Birth Movement meetings in my home - all welcome. https://www.facebook.com/ThePositiveBirthMovementSouthEastEssex/

I had a positive birth experience when my son was born but felt challenged in my antenatal care by an overly medicalised approach to childbirth, as well as the popular notion that childbirth is an inevitably painful experience.
I used Hypnobirthing techniques suggested to me by a friend and it was these small pieces of advice that really helped me to navigate the medical system and to have a positive birth experience.
Realising after my son’s birth how integral these techniques had been, I looked into Hypnobirthing in more detail- reading books and speaking to people about their own Hypnobirthing experiences - and realised that the techniques I had used were just the tip of the amazing iceberg that is Hypnobirthing. I was astounded by the way that the skills that Hypnobirthing provides, along with the knowledge of how the body works in childbirth, can free women from the fear often felt about childbirth, enabling them to look forward to the birth of their child and to have incredibly empowering, positive birth experiences.
And so I knew I had to be part of it! I carried out my training with Katherine Graves and began in my mission to empower women and their partners to experience childbirth as the wonderful, natural experience it is.
I’m a mum of three with a background in performance. Pre-kids life consisted of auditions, occasional acting jobs and a lot of temping! I was a stay at home mum for a good chunk of my three little poppets’ lives. 2017 saw my last little one embark on school life; cue Mummy’s chance to retrain and re-enter the world of work. Teaching Hypnobirthing ticks all the boxes for me; I get to talk all things birth and positivity; I can work around my family life AND I have the pleasure of meeting and working with parents during the most beautiful and exciting time in their lives - lucky me!
