Hypnobirthing Manchester - Teachers' Directory
Hi I'm Ruth, the Down to Birth - KGHypnobirthing founder and teacher. I'm a KGH mum myself and I'm really passionate about sharing the wisdom of KGHypnobirthing to all of my mums and birth partners through a fun, informative and transformative look at birth! I’ve been the soon to be mum, relentlessly searching the internet for information information information! I was "ready" but daunted for the birth of my baby. I then attended a KGH course with a local teacher and it transformed me (and my husband too actually) … My thinking completely changed and we birthed our babies the way we wanted to. Our births were completely different, but both were our births. We did it as a team, me, my husband and our babies- and it was magical. I want that for every woman I come across, I don’t care how she chooses to give birth, but I want her to feel empowered, calm and ready to meet her baby.
My name is Laura and I'm a mum to a very energetic little boy. Originally from Glasgow, I now live in Wigan with my husband and son.
After my own birth I decided I wanted to become a birth worker to advocate for mothers and help them to have the best birth experience possible.
Unfortunately I didn't know much about hypnobirthing until after my own birth experience. I fully believe my son's birth would have been a much different experience if I had been a hypnobirthing mum.
Now I am extremely happy and proud to call this my job.
Hi, I’m Becky!
I have been working with parents, babies and families for over 10 years and I love what I do.
My background is in swimming and I am the owner of Dolphin Academy Swimming School where I teach several Baby swimming classes alongside special Aqua Natal Yoga for mummies-to-be.
I also teach Pregnancy yoga classes, and hope to give expectant parents the most out of their special journey! I don’t want this journey to end once baby is here, and with my baby massage, baby swimming and mummy yoga classes I hope to stay with you throughout this amazing time!
Pregnancy and birth should be such a magical time, but often from a past experience or stories told from friends/family, this can be filled with anxiety. This is not the way nature intended, and I want to help women to embrace this wonderful time of their life!
My name is Angela Bowman. I am a practising community midwife with both a masters and BSc in Midwifery. I have 20 years' experience of working with women and their partners throughout their birthing journey. I am a mother and a grandmother. I know as a midwife that I am truly privileged to share with women their experiences when preparing for birth and have witnessed many beautiful and calm births. I have been fortunate over the years to observe births in many settings from home to hospital (and anything in-between).
I am passionate about promoting natural birth. My interest in hypnobirthing came through my work as a midwife, from observing hypnobirths and receiving the wonderful and empowering birth stories from those women who I had suggested hypnobirthing to. Many reported that the day they birthed their baby was the best day of their lives and it was a wondrous experience, leading many of my midwifery colleagues to exclaim how 'surprised' they were when the baby arrived with such ease.
Hypnobirthing is not 'trendy' or 'hippy'. Women have always followed their instincts, trusted in their bodies and used hypnobirthing techniques long before the term was invented. I have witnessed that when women work in harmony with their mind and bodies they create confident calm births; yet for some, fear and negativity inhibit this harmonious functioning. I believe that hypnobirthing using the KGHypnobirthing approach will enable you to have the skills and knowledge to achieve the best birth for you and your baby on the day.
After 37 years as a practising midwife, I remain as passionate as ever about promoting birth as a natural and very special event. I have recently retired so have been able to channel my skills and experience in helping ‘soon to be mothers’ like you best prepare for birth. Experience has taught me a mother’s body is perfectly designed for birth, yet mothers have a tendency to work against it. I believe KGHypnobirthing is the perfect way for me to empower you with knowledge and skills to help you achieve the best birth for you.
I am professional in my approach, trustworthy, warm and friendly (so I’m told!). I will support you from first contact on enquiry, throughout pregnancy and for the first month after birth. I will provide you with a chance for birth reflection within my support period, both as a positive means of birth recovery and as a celebration. We will also have fun along the way
I hold both a teaching and counselling qualification and have extensive experience in teaching Antenatal Education, Active Birth and Relaxation, along with providing De-brief, Birth Reflection and Breastfeeding Support.
Please don't hesitate to ring me should you have any questions at all, or wish to discuss a tailor made session.
My first Hypnobirthing baby was born in 2011. I was so blown away by the course and the knowledge I acquired, I knew I had to share this with other women. I actually don't think it's fair to send women to give birth without this information.
In 2013, I bought a 5m bell tent and used it as a PosItive Birth Space attending festivals such as The Green Gathering and Solfest sharing the techniques and signposting pregnant women to great sources of information.
In 2015, I trained as a KGHypnobirthing teacher and doula leaving my career in the NHS in Neuropsychology to help women have better birth experience full time in 2016. I have since become a Teacher Trainer for KGHypnobirthing.
Being a doula, I have a good understanding of how the maternity system works and how best to help you navigate it. I have one foot in the system but not both feet so this enables me to give you truly independent information.
I have appeared on BBC1, BBC Family and Education and BBC 5Live talking about how what I do can help women who have previously had traumatic birth experiences to experience better ones.
I write spoken word poems mostly about birth and have performed them at birth conferences both nationally and internationally.
Workiing with women and their partners at this special time in their lives is both a privilege and a pleasure.
Most people come to my course expecting some deep relaxation so they can access their innate birthing wisdom, but realise the course I teach is actually much more than this.
The course educates the conscious mind about birth including birth physiology and how to access and create more of the hormones you'll need to give birth. You'll gain an understanding of the evidence base as well as knowledge of our current local maternity system and how to work with it in a way that's right for you.
Should you be interested in working with me, please do get in touch. In the first instance, we can chat to see if we are a good fit for working with each other and we can go from there.
