Hypnobirthing Merseyside - Teachers' Directory
Hi and congratulations for choosing Hypnobirthing. I am first and foremost a mum to two beautiful girls I adore. I am also a midwife in the field for over 10 years. I have specialised in supporting mums with complicated lives, anxiety, depression and previous births they have not felt at ease with. I have a DipHE in Psychology and am trained in foundation Hypnosis and have taught various hypnobirthing methods. I have chosen KGH for its simplicity and its easy pairing with good midwifery care.
If you would like to experience support, care and feel calm and in control of your baby's safe arrival, then give me a call or email.
“How we give birth matters- and not just for the day itself. An empowering, confident start can have a lifelong impact on the physical and emotional health of both mum and baby” Milli Hill
I have a dream………..that all women can have the birth and postnatal care they want and deserve…….that they feel in control, supported, informed, loved, nurtured and listened to.
Are you pregnant? Is that what you want? Do you think you will get it?
I have been working with women and their families for over 25 years and yes, hear and have been involved in positive, loving stories about birth and beyond but more often than that I hear the other side. The “failure to progress” the “emergency caesarean” the “I wasn’t allowed” and the worst “I thought my baby would die if I didn’t. “
Women will see their midwives and be prepared for the birth by antenatal appointments and classes. A woeful 10-15 minutes to discuss your worries, fears, what ifs, wishes and wants, classes consisting of a few hours of preparation and discussion on pain relief and a few words on when to call the hospital for advice on when to go in. Classes are very much directed to women who will be birthing in hospital and rarely to women who will be using a birth centre or having a home birth.
If this is enough for you then great, but I often feel frustrated on talking to women who have had their baby and hear the words…..”I wish I had been more prepared” “I wish I had known I could have done that” “I felt out of control” “No one seemed to listen to us” “I didn’t think it would be like this after I had the baby!”
Having worked for the NHS as a community nursery nurse, midwife and health visitor I cannot praise the work of doctors and midwives, but they too are frustrated and saddened by the fact they cannot give women what they want.
A positive birth and supportive postnatal period has so many benefits initially and for the future…..the bonding process, hormone health, baby’s brain development, healthy mental health for both mum and baby and a reduction in the risk of postnatal depression.
I can offer you and your partner this, especially if you have suffered trauma or a negative experience previously. My skills, compassion, empathy and training in hypnobirthing, antenatal, labour, postnatal care and infant feeding will give you the tools and confidence to have the birth you want.
There is such a lot of strong evidence that supports the fact that women birth better when they have continued support. Caring for women as a midwife was so very important to me as I trundled into work for those long 12 hour shifts……but I often left those shifts feeling powerless, saddened, upset and frustrated. This then begs the question, if I feel like this, how must parents feel?
Being a hypnobirthing doula for me is about re-educating, informing, supporting, nurturing, loving, guiding, reassuring and putting parents back in control of their own pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Hypnobirthing. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly used hypnobirthing to help her stay calm and in control of her births and it is becoming increasingly popular. The evidence shows that if a couple hypnobirth through their labour it can create a calm and peaceful environment by reducing adrenaline and increasing oxytocin which in turn can reduce discomfort and lead to a less painful birthing experience. It reduces the likelihood of intervention, medication and induction. In a nutshell it helps women birth without fear. Fear causes tension which causes pain.
Doula Support. This support is individually tailored to your own individual needs, wants and wishes. Helping and supporting women and their partners on their choices and helping them understand what choices they have during labour and birth. Helping, supporting and reassuring them to listen to instinct which can improve the chance of a natural birth and decrease the likelihood of a c section by 50%! Evidence on having doula support shows a reduction in labour by an average of 2 hours. This calm and controlled environment is facilitated by massage in labour using wonderful calming essential oils, rebozo techniques (a Mexican sling/scarf to support the bump and help baby snuggle into their optimal birthing position) and important breathing techniques. Doula support means nourishment, reassurance, positive affirmation, belief and love to name but a few. Making tea, lighting candles, looking after other little ones are among my duties. Postnatally I will support breastfeeding, can shop, take the dog out and often just sit with the baby while mum gets a few hours’ sleep.

I am a passionate midwife qualified since 2008, with a wide range of experience - mainly on Delivery Suite caring for mums to be and their families.
I have seen first hand the power of hypnobirthing, in that where the mind leads, the body follows; and I am very keen to promote and encourage this. I believe that all women, with the right mindset and guidance can achieve the best and most positive birth experience for them.
My name is Rachael, I am a mum to my beautiful daughter Bobbi born May 2017. I am a strong believer that with the right focus, mindset and practice our body can do anything...especially birth our baby. I have become a KG Hypnobirthing teacher as I believe all women have the right to a positive birth. More women need to stand up to and switch off from negative birth stories and start their birth journey right. KG Hypnobirthing gives you the confidence to do this and paves the way to a relaxed birth. I am incredibly proud to teach this course.
Hi I'm Kim, I qualified as a hypnotherapist in 2015 but had to take a break when I became pregnant, I knew instantly that I wanted to have a hypnobirth after learning about it. The whole encounter was so wonderful and empowering, I couldnt get enough and wanted to pass on my experience so I completed the KG Hypnobirthing course to share this amazing adventure with new parents and enjoy teaching them about hypnobirthing.
Lionheart Hypnobirthing provides both exclusive hypnobirthing classes and postnatal follow up within the comfort and familiarity of your home, and group hypnobirthing courses in a local venue. All courses are run and delivered by me, Rachel - a registered midwife, health visitor, hypnobirthing teacher and…most importantly…hypnobirthing mum.
I teach Hypnobirthing because I want every pregnant woman and her birth partner to feel confident, calm and courageous about their forthcoming birth.
I want you to enjoy your labour and birth and know you have choices every step of the way. I also want your birth partner to know exactly what to do to support you. I want you to feel in awe of yourself after giving birth - at your accomplishment, at your strength.
Hypnobirthing makes a positive difference to birth for both you and your baby:
-As You are likely to experience reduced birth sensations and a greater sense of comfort.
--The length of labour is often much shorter.
-Less drugs and medical intervention are generally needed (such as augmentation of labour, assisted delivery and caesarean section).
-A calm and gentle birth for you, is also a calm and gentle birth for your baby! Your baby will be born into a calm and relaxed environment; alert and ready to bond with you as nature intended.
-Reduced incidence of perineal trauma/tearing.
-Mums recover physically much more quickly.
-Your birth partner will learn how to support you and have a central and active role in the birth.
With me, you'll get a truly personal service:
-As my private courses are totally bespoke to you, I can be flexible with days and times. You can relax and feel at ease knowing that our chats are confidential, and the content can be tailored to your individual needs.
-I provide a super important postnatal visit to clients who do my private courses; this is to talk about your experiences, and support you with your transition into motherhood, or with your growing brood.
-Birth partners are fully involved in all my courses; they need to be hearing all the same stuff as you!
- Group courses are kept small to keep things personal.
My hypnobirthing courses fill up quick, so please get in touch to ensure you don’t miss out.

Why Choose a Hypnobirth?
Hypnobirthing involves training mothers in the use of effective hypnosis techniques to enjoy a more calm and relaxed birth for them and their child.
We have teachers across the UK and beyond, and we are training new teachers all the time, so wherever you live, we hope that you will be able to find one of our practitioners near you.
We have trained and assessed, carefully, all of our accredited practitioners, each teacher has extensive experience with hypnobirthing methods for expectant mothers and display a high level of skill and professionalism at all times.
Our Core Principles
We also ask our teachers to sign up to our code of ethics, which guides their conduct when teaching good quality techniques to mothers, and asks for their commitment to promoting natural childbirth more generally. They also help to raise awareness of its effectiveness in creating a more relaxed birth for both mother and child.
