Thank you so much for coming to us for the HypnoBirthing classes recently. They worked a treat, and although there were a couple of moments during labour when I did think, “Can I really do this? It hurts” – but then the next contraction my husband and I would get just right (in terms of relaxation) and I’d realise I could….. And I had the CD on all the way through.
My labour was just 7.5 hrs, and the last 4 of these were in hospital in the birthing unit (less ‘hospitalised’ and sterile than the other labour rooms – dimmer lighting and not a hospital bed – and midwife-led). Using the HypnoBirthing techniques we’d learned, my baby was born without any problems and any intervention from medical staff. I stuck to my guns when we arrived – they wanted to examine me to see how I was progressing – but I asked them to wait and they did – before long it was apparent I was definitely progressing!) We were very lucky with our midwives who were great and pretty much sat back and watched until the very end – they were complimentary about the birth and it was wonderful that my husband had such an integral, vital role in it this time – for him and me. The baby just popped making a perfect o with his mouth. And his heart rate (checked at intervals) had remained calm and steady throughout. He was put straight on my chest where he proceeded to suckle for about 1 hr – heavenly! My baby is feeding very well – he has a very strong suck – and he just wants to eat and sleep at the moment. Mum and newborn both doing very well.
