Covid-19 and KGHypnobirthing

We would like to re-assure all our parents and teachers that we are taking Covid-19 and your health seriously. We understand that some of you will understandably be feeling more anxious at this time. At KGH we are here to help and support you and although the situation is fluid and changes almost daily, it is important – for both you and your baby – to stay calm in these unprecedented times. You can still use the KGH techniques you have available to release any fears and anxiety. All our free resources can be found here.

Parent face to face course

Due to the latest updates and advice from the Government, all face to face courses have either been postponed, or the format has changed and will run as a remote course online. If you have booked onto Katharine Graves’ April parents’ course at St Thomas’ hospital, you would have already received an email with the details of the rearrangement – please email if you have not.

KGHypnobirthing Online Course

If you are currently pregnant, we have our amazing value online parents course which you can sign up to here. This is a full 12-hour KGHypnobirthing course, including a digital copy of Katharine’s The Hypnobirthing Book and all the audio relaxations you need to prepare for your positive birth. Once you sign up, you will have access for 12 months and it is a great way to focus and stay calm during the time building up to your baby’s arrival. Hypnobirthing teaches you skills you can use life, not just the birth of your baby!

Teacher training

If you would like to train as a KGH teacher, just book a course as normal and if we do need to cancel/postpone the course, you can transfer to another course at a later date in the year.

Oxytocin

Ask yourself – what happens when you panic or are afraid? You produce adrenaline instead of oxytocin. Oxytocin is the hormone of calm that has other beneficial effects for you and your baby. It even strengthens the immune system – which is so important right now. Using the KGH ‘up’ breathing is the quickest and simplest way to calm the nerves – three lovely long, slow breaths. Notice the thoughts that enter your mind rather than just reacting to them. If you have a negative thought, I suggest you put them on a white fluffy cloud and watch them drift on its way. You can even blow it gently to help it on its way.

Use the positive statements you have been given and make sure they are put up all around your home. If you haven’t already, sign up to our daily positive statements email. Listen to one of the KGH positive and relaxing audios. There are so many ways to focus the mind towards your baby at this unusual time. If you need us, we are here for you, so do get in touch.

Stay healthy and safe.

Love,

Katharine
